Replay Music was Re: Error in Winamp

2007-11-10 Thread Catherine Turner
Hi Chris,

Great - thanks for the help.

The thing is now because I was panicking/not sure whether someone would
respond here/wanting to listen to music I uninstalled Replay Music. I then
discovered one of their other programs (Replay Media Catcher) was better
suited for what I wanted anyway. But now I'm just wondering - do you use
Replay Music? If so what do you use it for and what do you like about it?
(Considering whether to reinstall it and give it a try)...

 Hey Catherine

This is pretty easy to fix actually. When you install replay music,
it does try to install a different sound card driver and it makes
that one the default one, instead of your windows default. So what
you'll need to do is go into your control pannel, sounds and audio
devices and go to the audio tab.
Then change it back from the replay driver back to your sound card
and press apply, then ok and you'll be right!
 Hope this helps.

AT 12:38 PM 11/9/2007, you wrote:
Hi,

When I try to play anything in Winamp I get an error which I'll paste
below.
I think this is to do with the fact I've just installed software called
Reply Music because as part of the instalation process it said it was
installing a soundcard driver. So now I'm thinking how can I correct
that.
The error in Winamp says

DirectSound output v2.46 (d) error
Bad DirectSound driver. Please install proper drivers or select another
device in configuration.
Error code: 8878000A

How do I instal proper drivers? Or is it possible/how do I select a
different device? Does different device mean an alternate sound card?
Because I've only got one; so maybe I should somehow undo what Replay
Music
did...any ideas?

Thanks,
Catherine

Winamp error (for Catherine)

2007-11-10 Thread petrakigianos-giasou
Reinstall over the top the Winamp software.

Note: My experience only. When installing a newer version of
Winamp software it will break Replay Music's tagging feature.
This tagging feature used to use the gracenote service to
determine the title, artist and album name. Names the tracks for
your recordings.

So if I install a newer version of Winamp I have to uninstall
Replay Music and reboot my computer and then reinstall again the
Replay Music software.

Applian in its user guide says you must uninstall Replay Music
and then reboot your computer before installing Replay Music
software.

So I would do:

1. Uninstall RM software and reboot the computer.
2. Install over the top the Winamp program.
3. See if Winamp player works for you.
4. Install Replay Music software now.
5. Now see if RM and Winamp work for you.

Basically when I used to installed a newer version of Winamp it
would break Replay Music.

Hope this helps.

 For shuffle;
 1) Go to main menu on iPod classic. By hitting menu on the top

 2) You should be able to hear an audible click, as you move from

 set to go
through the head phones, or the iPod internal speaker.

Click down the menu, until you hear no more audible clicks.
 3) Go up one click (and/or option). And hit enter (select button).
 It should
shuffle the songs and start playing.

 Now playing:
 1) Go to the main menu.
 2) Go to the very last option, and hit enter.
*note: If there hasn't been a play session started, you will

note: This is my setup, if you have different folders or playlists,
 I am
sorry if this does something to your iPod. *smile*
 1) Go to main menu, and go to the very first option [music].
 2) Go all the way down until the iPod classic stops clicking, and
 go up one
 click.
 3) Listen away.

2007-11-10 Thread Catherine Turner
Hi,

I've just started using GoldWave and think I'm missing something here but
I'm wondering how I can get it to play from a particular point in the file.
I mean I'm putting the end marker somewhere roughly near the end of the file
where I'm guessing I want it; then playing 3 seconds to it to see whether
it's in the right place. Is there a way I can move say 10 or 20 seconds
before the end marker and play the file from that point on?

Go into the Edit menu, down to Set Markers and enter a time for the Start

  using version 207,
  you can cut copy paste
from 1 window to the other.
under the file menu, look for new program window.
now you will have 2 windows open.
use the ctrl+O to browse for a mp3 file to open.
  do this on both windows.
This is how you would merge window 1 on to window 2.
select the part of or all of window 1 and copy it to clipboard.
  alt+tab over to window 2
move to the front, or the end of the mp3 file and paste in the contents of
  window 1.

In limited exploration, I didn't find that program to be terribly
accessible. What I use it for is to quickly and effortlessly split an
   mp3
file into smaller files of a chosen length. that is a breeze.

The Best Ripping format again

2007-11-10 Thread G. McFarlane
Hi
Apologies for returning to this perennial problem.
Before I realised it a while ago I ripped my entire collection of music in
Itunes to the wav format in order to preserve best quality. I since discovered
I had no tags except those preserved in the Itunes library. In Itunes the files
are tagged but taking them outside of this, they lose them. I Can however
maintain the tags if I convert the files withing Itunes to Apple lossless or
mp3.
Having messed up my library by trying to clean it up I now find that there are
about 100 albums missing. I'm now considering re-ripping everything into a
lossless tagged format. I like the Itunes interface but does this limit me to
Apple lossless? Also I have converted some of my wav files to Apple lossless
and I thought I noticed some deterioration - is this possible?
Is there something better? How about Windows Media files lossless or flec? I
know lossless should mean lossless but does it. I really want to rip at the
best then convert to different formats to my heart's content while maintaining
the tag, and somewhere along the way still use Itunes interface.
Any suggestions from that great body of experience out there?
One final point are there ways of ripping more than one CD at a time?
Thanks in advance.
Gordon McFarlane
