I am sorry to be so stupid, but I just followed the link that was provided,
and I got some music. I left it there for a couple of minutes, which might
not have been long enough to try it properly. I don't know why it worked,
and unfortunately, I deleted the link. It was too early in the morning for
the brain to work properly. I'll do a google, and maybe something will

Really? Clear Channel streams work for you within Canada? That would be
great news. I've never known anyone from here in Canada who receives
anything but a Clear Channel page apologizing for the fact that they can
 no
longer stream their product to Canada. Could you offer a link to a station
using the CC Tuner that can be accessed in Canada?

 Thanks.

A note for those living outside the U. S. If you have had occasion to
attempt to stream a Clear Channel station but found it impossible,
 where
 you
live might be the reason why.
Clear Channel blocks non U. S. residents from listening to all of their
streams including HD2 stations. To my knowledge, they are the only
 radio
station streaming company who impose this restriction. If you notice
 CC
Tuner as part of the stream's url and you live outside the States, you
 will
 be excluded.

Needless to say, I am not a big Clear Channel fan.

I use JLC's Internet TV with Jaws. Sometimes it is hard to get Jaws
focused
in the right area. Understanding the layout of the screen helps. I
 wish
 it
used the control tab or f6 to switch tabs. Instead, I need to use the
 jaws
cursor a lot to switch areas.

It's free but it installs a community toolbar. It won't work if you
uninstall the toolbar and you can not choose not to install the toolbar
 in
 the first place.

It does have system wide hot keys but you need to turn on numlock to
 make
 it
 work.

Have no other issues with Jaws or my computer so far.

 Hi Lisa,

You might wish to try JLC's Internet TV. You can get it from
 www.jlc-software.com/index.php?page=internet_tv.html

It works well with JAWS and on the page it states:

JLC's Internet TV is a FREE program for watching and browsing thousands
 of
TV channels freely available on the internet. It's
probably the biggest and most up to date database of channels ever, and
users are able to submit, rate and flag channels. And with
the new flagging and rating system you'll easily see which channels
 works
and which is worth to watch and our goal is to bring you
the best online TV experience out there!

Hi Don,

Thanks for this. Hidemyip.com have a free trial. If you are outside the US:

1. Launch Internet Explorer.

2. Go to Tools, Internet Options.

3. Ctrl+tab to the Connections tab.

4. Press space on Local Area Network Settings.

5. Check the use a proxy server checkbox.

6. Set the Proxy Server Address to us.pickaproxy.com and the Proxy Server Port
to 8125.

7. Press enter on OK, then again on the next OK, to close.

8. Close and restart Internet Explorer (I'm not sure if this step is absolutely
necessary).

9. Open www.939online.com/cc-common/streaming_new/index.html?refreshed=yes

It Worked for me, but as a trial, you only have a limited time. I didn't find
the pricing on their service.

One other thing. In terms of accessibility, their web site

Which update pop up are you talking about? If it's the one that let's
you know about a new version when you start Winamp, you can disable that
in the settings. Go into Winamp preferences, I use Control-p. Arrow up
or down until you get to General Preferences. You can then tab over to
Check for new version of Winamp at startup. and uncheck that option.

If you folks outside of the USA really want to hear those clear
channel streams, one option is to go to
 http://www.hidemyip.com

and get the program which makes your IP look like something from
the United States. A disclaimer, however. I have not used this
program but have heard from reliable sources that it works,
although I do not know the cost.

One other thing. In terms of accessibility, their web site
stinks. I just went there, and there were quite a few unlabeled
 buttons.

 Bob,

I wasn't trying to anger you and it never would have put a damper on my
 day!
It was just this, that your disclaimer, or whatever you might want to call
it, could have been very misleading, to anyone who might have gone after
the Internet T.V. thing, because you had described the process, quite a
 bit,
in the earlier message! If my point is unclear, my apologies!

haven't used JLC's TV tuner for a while so I am not qualified to give more

That's kind of a brief explanation, after your long treatise on the
 cursor
use and such, don't you think? Since you were so verbose, in your
explanation, why don't you, at least, attach some importance, to the fact
that you were talking about an entirely different program? It seems,
 that
it would be common courtesy to do that, after you led some people off in
 a
 blind direction!

 Hi everyone,

I had a sighted friend who showed me a program that allows you to view
 3000
television and radio stations around the world. I think this is really
 cool.
Does anyone know of an accessible software that would work with JAWS in
viewing many of these channels? He says that the program he installed
 on
 a
laptop computer is only usable with a mouse and not a keyboard. Any
 suggestions?
Thanks for your assistance in this area.

Hi All,

I used to be able to listen to BBC radio1, but now when I click on the
listen live link, the machine goes ding and I get frustrated because I

I live in New York City, so maybe the British government cut it off to

Can someone send me a direct link? Or perhaps, there is another way to
access it?

Thanks very much.

Hi Audrey. I don't listen to Radio 1 (I've grown up LOL). I have just
tried their site and I also couldn't get to listen live. However, I went to
their text only page and the link was there and it worked fine. I think
the problem in part is the BBC are using a new player (I player) They did
use real player at one point but it seems each time I visit a BBC site
(usually world service or radio 4 or 5) it is usually the I player they say
is being used. Hope this is of some help. Walter.

I was given a large stack of 45RPM records by a friend who wanted them

I thought it would be fun to include the disc's release date on the CE's

Is there a Website that makes look-up like this fast?
I've been GOOGLing and wading through Wikipedia, and would like something a

Really? Clear Channel streams work for you within Canada? That would be
great news. I've never known anyone from here in Canada who receives
anything but a Clear Channel page apologizing for the fact that they can
 no
longer stream their product to Canada. Could you offer a link to a
 station
using the CC Tuner that can be accessed in Canada?

 Thanks.

A note for those living outside the U. S. If you have had occasion to

 where

Clear Channel blocks non U. S. residents from listening to all of

Hello Everyone,

This week's Main Menu is all about downloading and listening to music on
your computer. Presented by two music enthusiasts, Brian Hartgen and
Anna Dresner, this programme demonstrates some of the ways in which you
can access music services and software with a screen-reader.

First, you will hear about J-Tunes version 3.2 from TT Consultancy,
which links the JAWS screen-reader with the iTunes music management
system from Apple. You will learn how to install and use the J-Tunes
product including listening to on-line radio stations, subscribing to
Podcasts, purchasing tracks and albums from the iTunes Music Store and
much more.

You will also hear about purchasing and managing content from Amazon's
MP3 store, EMusic and Napster. Find out how to use your screen-reader
with these services. The discussion surrounding these services is not
restricted to JAWS usage.

Would you like to interact with a group of Main Menu listeners about the
topics heard on Main Menu and Main Menu Live? You can do this by joining

Re: can't hear radio 1

2008-06-01 Thread Barry Chapman
Hi Audrey,

If you are a JAWS user (it is probably similar with other screen readers):

1. Open the Radio 1 homepage at http://bbc.co.uk/radio1

2. Go to the Listen Live link and press enter. JAWS doesn't make it clear that
anything has happened, but some additional links
then appear. Two links are:

Listen live | RealPlayer

Listen Live | Windows Media (UK only)

Here in Australia, the RealPlayer stream works, but as stated, the Windows
Media stream does not. I've no idea why one can listen
with RealPlayer outside the UK, but not with Windows Media player.
