Re: How to get the most material onto a standard cd Using Goldwave andpremier cd creator.

2008-08-18 Thread Gary Wood
I would think you'd need to lower the bit rate instead of raise it, to get
more onto a standard CD!

Subject: How to get the most material onto a standard cd Using Goldwave
andpremier cd creator.

 Hi,
I have never done the following proceedure before, and could use
suggestions. I have been asked to copy quite a number of cassettes of
greatly varying lengths to be preserved onto cds. These cassettes are old
family cassettes of kids singing and talking etc. Because the amount of
material on each cassette varies from 7 minutes, to at least 30 minutes, I
want to copy them consecutively. I will be using Goldwave. These cds
should be able to be played on any cd player, so not an mp3 formate for
 now.
So, if I change the byt rate, from 16 to 24, can I squeze more onto a
cd? With premier cd Creator, when I put a new cd into the computer, it
 will
tell me I have 703 megabytes free. I have been able to put about 72
 minutes
of material onto a cassette. Is there any way I could squeze a few
 minutes
more onto each cd without having to go to mp3 format? Thanks very much for
 your help
 Vinny Samarco?

 Hi everyone!

I'm using sound taxi on an hp pavilion laptop running vista sp1. I've used
it many times before to convert various files, but today, I added a file,
and was told that it was queued for conversion, even though I had set the
program to begin conversions automatically. I waited for it to start for
about ten minutes before shutting down the program. It was the only file
 in
the queue, so it should have started. I tested several other files from
rhapsody with the same results. I also tried converting to both mp3 and
wave. I can't figure out what the problem might be. If anyone has any
suggestions or ideas, I would really appreciate any and all assistance.
 Thanks.

Re: Easy CD-DA Extractor Version 11.9.9 is now Available

2008-08-18 Thread Larry Naessens
Hi there Lauren. Easy CD-DA Extractor is a shareware program. You can use it
to burn Cds and to rip CDS to your computer in various formats. It offers a
trial period, allowing you to work with it and decide whether you like it
enough to buy it.

One cool aspect is that you can right click on a folder, arrow down to the
choice that asks if you want to burn the folder to CD using Easy CD-DA
Extractor, press enter, wait for the tracks to load, then press F8 to burn
the folder to disk. That's about as easy as it can get.

recorders

2008-08-18 Thread josh pearson
Hello,

I have done a bit of research and am deciding on either the ZoomH2 or the
Edirol R09HR recorder. Could somebody compare the two regarding quality,
features/lacks, and equipment needed? I want to be able to use a set of sterio
mics with them, high quality but roughly at a reasonable price. Also looking
for the same regarding a mono mic, ear sterio mics and a lapel mic. Anybody
know anything?

That's something Neil Hughes could help you with, listen to his

recorder above the Zoom range, the Sony PCMd50

Conversions With Winamp

2008-08-18 Thread Dean Masters
When choosing what kind of file you wish to convert to, how do you tell what
it will be? I know the mp3 but the others just give the company who created
them rather than the extension for the new file. Which one would be used to
convert to an .ogg file?

Thanks,
