sound edditing software and sound board questions

2008-10-23 Thread Kevin Wassmer
Hello folks. I have some questions. First does anyone know if Sony Vagus works
with Jaws? Second, I will be working at a radio station as an intern. I wonder
what is the best way I can tell if my levels are to high before I put something
over the air. Do you know if I can get something that will beep at me if the
levels are high? This is because I will not be able to see the meter on the
board. I will talk to you later.

Re: Is there a device that will let you play a thumb drivethroughastario?

2008-10-23 Thread constantine (on laptop)

Hi

You can buy a stario that will do it. But honestly, I'd use an AV cable,
because buying a stario that could play thumb drives is a waste of money-
your not getting very much money back- because the thumb drive costs a
fraction of the system.

Best way I can think of is buy one of those cables that have two RCA
jacks
on one end and 1 at the other. Plug the end with 1 jack into a laptop,
with
a thumb drive in it, and plug the other two into a stario or tv equipt
with
2 stario jacks.

Is there a device that will let you plug in a thumb drive and act
like

a CD player, reading the songs, and sending them through RCA to a
stario receiver? I would apppreciate any advice on a product that
would do this?

mailing list for music

2008-10-23 Thread Robbie Miller

Friends,
I just bought a Yamaha 535 keyboard. I would like to learn to play it. I
have no music background. I would like to know if there is a mailing list I
can subscribe to that could help me get started.
Thanks for any help.

home recording

2008-10-23 Thread Joshua Pearson
Hello,

I play piano, ukulele and sing. I want to put together a demo album of stuff
I've written.

I have a set of binaural mics (in-ear), a mono mic (both of these are from
Sound Professionals), and another mono mic and set of regular stereo mics (from
Giant Squid Audio.)

I have a Zoom H2 recorder and use Soundforge and Studio Recorder.

What will be the best way for me to record? Should I record in tracks, or
vocals and music together?

How about getting rid of room noise as the room I'm recording in is kind of
echoey.

Any tips?

2008-10-23 Thread Alex Follo
If you are talking headset to RCA, I know about that, but, I feel
there is a los of quality, like a headphone jack, just doesn't put out
the sound that an RCA device does, and the conversion? It just doesn't
sound that good.
