Hello to all,

After a while of working, we now have released Version 1.08 of MaPlEr.
We have added a lot of new features and we hope you'll enjoy them.
For this update please do not use the update feature of MaPlEr. Please
download the setup file from our homepage, and install it. This is
necessary because of integrating the CD-Ripping-Feature.

The direct download link is
http://www.odissa.de/php/CHCounter/getfile.php?id=10

a word about the conversion function:
to convert to MP3 files you have to download the program
lame.exe.
You can get it e.g. on this site
http://audio.ciara.us/rarewares/lame3.98.2.zip
Please unzip the file and copy
lame.exe
to the program folder, where you have installed MaPlEr.
Because of license laws we are not allowed to bundle lame.exe with our
program.
But if you download it your own, it's not illegal.

I'll attach the what's new list at the end of the mail.

Best regards from here and we are waiting for your feedback and hope
you'll have much fun with the new version!
Marco (Mar-dy-Team).

V1.08.0:
- Integrated the English help file.
- We have rapidly decreased the time to recognize the tracks
  of an audio CD.
- Assign shortcuts to all labels of the different
  dialog boxes.
- Extras | convert: with this feature you can convert
several audio formats to another. With this dialog
you can convert audio CD's to MP3 too.
Please refer to our homepage for more information.
- If you insert an audio CD in your CD-ROM-Drive, you can select
MaPlEr to play this CD right from this popup menu.
- If you have multiple sound cards you can switch between
the soundcards. This can be done while MaPlEr is playing too.
- view | column settings: with this entry you can tell MaPlEr
which columns should be shown and the width of each column.
The order of the columns can be set here too.
- view | Display columns as one long row: this
displays all the columns as one long row, without
many spaces between. This setting is useful especially
for use with a braille display.
- view | refresh: this refreshes the entries of the currently
  loaded play list.
- Player | player follows cursor: if you deactivate this entry
you can navigate through the play list, without
stopping the playback of the current track. If you
want to listen to the track, which has
the focus, you must explicitly play it by pressing
  the letter x.

Subject: Batch Conversion With Sound Taxi

Can Sound Taxi or some other batch conversion program preserve the artist
and album folder structure when converting a batch of ripped CD's from WMA
lossless to MP3 format?

I bought Sound Taxi. And I have also tried Easy CD-DA Extractor. I
specify
the output target root folder. I select the artist folders in the
lossless

CD directory. When I perform the conversion, Sound Taxi says conversion
complete very quickly, but nothing happens. Easy CD-DA Extractor does
not

even enable the Convert option unless I drill down and specifically select
the .WMA files.

Is there a setting or procedure that will let me preserve the artist and
album folder structure when converting files in batch?

If not, do you know of another accessible program that will accomplish
this?

How do you convert a batch of ripped CD's for playing in an MP3 player?

Thanks for all help.\\Rob

Moving by time in Goldwave?

2009-02-01 Thread Ray
Sorry if the answer to this is to read the manual, but, well, cannot find
any reference in there to moving by a specific amount of time in Goldwave.
Does anyone know if this is in fact possible?

Those familiar with Sound Forge will know the control-G command for doing
this, and I'm after a similar function in GW.

Many thanks.

Hi Ray,

I know it is possible to move by time increments in
Goldwave, but can't remember exactly what the keystroke is.
Just out of interest are you subscribed to any Goldwave

someone on this list doesn't get in first.

Thanks for the replies. I fear Dean probably has it when he referes to the
zoom level as the nearest one can get to this.

Let's hope the author is open to putting this feature into a future upgrade.

Yes, I am subbed to the Goldwave for the Blind list, but cannot just now
find an email to tell me exactly how to post there. I know, pathetic!
Maybe a Google search will turn up this info.

Thanks.

passive speaker for Eloquence

2009-02-01 Thread Bobcat
Looking for suggestions for a passive speaker for my computer. I want a
speaker that will sound good with Eloquence, not to much bass and clear. I
want a passive speaker to reduce cables that would always be on.

I got some cheep speakers but they weren't loud enough, even at full volume
with the sound card I use for speech . Perhaps passive speakers will not
work with this card.

I tried some powered speakers but they tend to have to much bass, making
Eloquence sound muddy. Maybe there are some active pc speakers that would
sound better with Eloquence if I can't find a passive model.

Goldwav, batch conversions, and shaky output

2009-02-01 Thread Jason Boston
Hi all,
I'm trying to use goldwav to convert files from one byt rate to a lower
byt rate to save space. I keep the hz at the same level when converting.
Say the source files are 128 byt 44100hz then the output will be 32 byt
and 44100hz
However, since these files are just audio books I expect the degredation
of sound quality to be minimaul, however the smaller files sometimes,
but not all the time, come out shaky. Any idea what I can do to fix this
problem?

The lister painted a glowing picture of the program sayig that it was
designed with blind users in mind. In fact what it did was to erase my

So again has anyone actually downloaded this package?
It does sound interesting.

This is an integral feature of Goldwave. From the file menu, choose Batch
processing. You first add files to the batch on the conversion tab, then, on
that same tab, choose the format and quality you want to convert to. It
works very well.

Subject: Losing speech when Recording from my usb turntable

Friends, let me try to describe what's happening.
I'm using a model of crosley turntable that's got a usb connection.
Now, here's where people get stumped.
I try to plug in my usb cable that's connected to my stereo in to my
computer, but I lose all instances of speech.
i have an external synthesizer, but I wonder if that will matter?
!I need all the help I can get!
