Re: Which M-audio Delta card runs in 7

2009-03-04 Thread Robert Nelson

Other considerations aside, make sure to buy a Delta card that has a break
out box.

I bought the Delta 1010LT which comes with a bunch of break out cables
rather than a break out box. They are about 6 inches long and hang off the
back of the card. Trying to work out which is an input cable and which is
an output cable is a cause of frustration and aggravation.

The Delta 1010LT has its own applet in Control Panel which consists of 4 or
5 tabs of check boxes and sliders which are, for the most part, accessible
with Jaws.

Hope this helps,

Bob Nelson

Hi. I bought my Delta a month ago and I really haven't found is software to
be tremendously accessible. That being said, maybe it's me to some degree. I

would call it workable and usable, but not exceptionally excessible. Now
then, the sound quality? That is just about as good as it gets. I just wish

I use an M-Audio Delta soundcard too. the mixer interface is very
accessible.

Has to be said though that this was bought a few years ago so I cannot
say if the software these days is as screen-reader friendly. I can
report that an M-Audio firewire box I have on the other computer isn't
 blessed with such
vi-friendly software and is near impossible for a screen reader to
 interact
 with.

Don't think you could get much impression of what these things sound

as it gets for a card aimed at the Pro-audio market.

 All the best.

Re: Which M-audio Delta card runs in 7

2009-03-04 Thread Ray
I echo Robert's thoughts belowe. The Delta 24/96 which I use has a small
breakout box, or lead, terminating in a number of phono plugs - or could be
sockets - and the only way to access the SPDIF input/output facility of the
card is via these leads.

As for accessability of the patchbay and mixer and settings, that is good,
and although I'm using Window-Eyes, JFW would obviously have no problems
here. There might be scripts too, but you'd have to search in the usual
places for them.

I think support under Windows 7 Beta is asking a lot. I'm no techy but
driver support tends to come very late on in the pre-release and even after
a release of a new OS. If you really want to know then I'd suggest going to
M-Audio's site.

I'm still using XP Pro for what that's worth.

Ray.

Sure!
I know I am asking a lot to have windows 7 work on older cards.

Or any card for that matter.

Also, I don't believe that delta cards have a 3.5 mm audio out jack right?

Now I wonder if the 44 also has an accesssible control pannel?
Cheers!

Quite right, M Audio soundcards tend to have phono standard jack or maybe
even XLR on some models.

Still, wouldn't be surprised if they have started doing 3.5mm interfacing as
this fits in with the vast majority of PC interfaces. I'd suggest looking
around their site.

Billy,

Although the National Resource Center for Blind Musicians mentions braille
on their homepage, I believe they do not focus exclusively on materials in

USB soundcards

2009-03-04 Thread Brian
Hi I am looking for a USB preferably 7.1 external soundcard with ideally
optical and coax digital outputs to connect to my Arcam home cinema amp.
Optical would do but coax would be better.

I can't see at all so I am looking for something I can operate with jaws
compatibility. I am using at the moment a cheap Trust 5.1 card; have tried a
Philips Orilium which did not work and an Audegy 2NX which I still have which
when connected skipped like a CD and made jaws speak very peculiarly. Any
advice would be appreciated.

Thanks
