Thanks so much Christopher, needn't worry I'm going yampy!
I always look forward to your posts here.
Haven't much time to add to what you've already said about Apple, but for me
at least it is a very mixed message I get when it comes to accessability
from them. It would be unfair to single out Apple in this field, after all
there are so many who don't come up to scratch on this issue, but the
Quicktime Player seems an example of, shall we say, 'blindess' when it comes
to our needs!
This from someone who might buy an IMac in the future - and commit the
herresy of putting Windows on it as well! So before anyone starts on a rant
about anti-Apple stances and my ignorance, you'd better think before you
write!
Ray.

I couldn't find the story at that URL either, so I used Google and found
the following URL http://www.apple.com/ipodshuffle/features.html.
Following the link labeled Learn more about VoiceOver also lead to
information on how this works, which BTW, seems to be the same way it
works on the iPod Nano.

And OK, I might be a thicko, likely I am, but I couldn't really find the
story that goes with this post on the Lioncourt site. Could some one
spell
it out a bit to me, please?
I'm certainly not a detractor from all things Apple, even if they still,
after seeing the accessability light, still get some things woefully
wrong!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but, I got the picture that most of the controls
are on the ear buds that come with this device. If so, that's a show
stopper right there and right now, especially for some of us who can't
wear
ear buds or prefer the old fashioned type head sets.

It sounds like a nice little player. It wasn't made clear in the
article how the text -to-speech is implemented though, whether it is
built-in or transferred.
I also followed the link to the press release and found a link to some
interesting facts about lithium-polymer batteries, charging cycles,
running time and lifespan.
