Oh, man, I hope you like it. Would hate to make a bad recommendation to you. I don't think there's anything special. Just make sure all your settings are right. Lol! I'm such a klutz when it comes to making sure every tiny setting is right in the control panel, in the recording softwar! Hahahaha! But I think you'll have no probelm with that, being far more competent in these things! Re: new sound card for my laptop
Hey, Crhis and all! I don't know if you really need the software or not. I just went on and installed it using a thumb drive thinking maybe it needed to be there so my Asus could see it. Hmmm . . . but maybe not. Peace, Kathy p.s. I'm not using surround sound either although it sounds like it would be fun to get Turtle Beach's surround sound headphones! Re: PROBLEMS WITH THE NEWEST GOLDWAVE 5.5
For some reason the new Goldwave doesn't recognize the earlier Lame encoder. However, if you're on line, it will come up with a box offering to download it for you. Just choose the OK button and the new encoder will be downloaded and installed for you. It will then continue and save your file in mp3 format. Only thing I've noticed is this new version of the encoder isn't nearly as fast or efficient as the earlier one. Not a problem with an average single song, but when saving longer files, such as chapters in a spoken word book, the increased time is very noticable. Haven't used it enough yet to find if the encoded files sound better than before but I would hope the extra time would be worth something. N-track studio 6 accessibility
Hey all. Did anyone tried to use n-track studio 6 for professional editing and multi track recording and how it works in terms of accessibility in combination of midi tracks and audio.. Is there something which someone found inaccessible? I saw on the website that it is accessible and that icons should be disabled from the preferences, but when i disabled it i stil couldn't see the menus as they are shown in the standard windows applications. Thanks for all the info. Mario To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: pc-audio-unsubscr...@pc-audio.org

Yep, I checked under Options and Plug Ins. Only thing that shows up there is Direct X. Freeverb is no longer there. Also in the effects menu plug ins is always disabled completely. Unable to change default speech on my computer
Greetings all: In preparation for possibly purchasing an iPod Nano, I decided to change my computer's default speech from Microsoft Mary to just about anything else. I currently have K 1000, Jaws, and Window-Eyes installed on my system. I have had Open Book and System Access installed in the past. Using either screen reader and going into Control panel and choosing speech, as soon as I press enter I received the following error message: Speech Properties The requested task cannot be carried out because the necessary engine could not be created. Please select a different engine and/or a different audio device. OK After pressing ok, I am able to supposedly select a different speech engine. Most of them are Scansoft voices as well as the Microsoft voices. Two are VW Kate and VW Paul. After choosing any setting and pressing ok, I get the following error: RUNDLL An exception occurred while trying to run C:\WINDOWS\system32\shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Speech\sapi.cpl,Speech OK I will be most appreciative if anyone can shed some light on this for me. I Googled the errors and found references to them but no solutions. Thanks for any and all help. To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: pc-audio-unsubscr...@pc-audio.org
