An Observation About Giveawayoftheday.com

2009-05-24 Thread Pam Drake
Too bad the giveaway today is not the Gold Wave we know; but
I must say the download and installation went flawlessly. As a first
experiment with the Giveaway site I have to say I will check it out in
the future, though not necessarily every day. grin I have heard they
have had some accessible programs but the majority have not been so.

Well, maybe this has motivated us to buy the real thing. grin

I just downloaded it and installed it out of curiosity. This audio editor
is far from being accessible IMHO. it does have some hotkeys but the
interface is a nightmare.

Houdy,

Rick's right on both counts. I uninstalled it from my machine since I use
gold wave from www.goldwave.com and until now have never heard of gold wave
editor pro. I believe their website address is www.goldwaveeditor.com or
something like that which I suppose makes a difference.

Also reports are that this program isn't accessible either.

I'd steer clear of it,

Re: would like some cd ex settings help

2009-05-24 Thread Christopher Chaltain
I sent you the following response a few days ago. Not sure if you saw it
or not. What file format are you using? What do you mean by best? Are
you looking for the best ratio between file size and quality? If not,
I'm not sure why you wouldn't just use a 320 bit rate and/or the insane
preset. Unless you're worried about file size, this will give you the
best quality.

I haven't used CDEX in a while, and I'm not sure what you mean by
best. From what you're saying, I'm guessing you don't are about the
size of the resulting file. For my part, I rip everything into MP3
files. In CDEX, you can use F4 to bring up settings and control-tab
over to the Encoder tab. Here, you can tab around and find a list of
Quality Presets. There's an insane option, which will adjust all of the
encoder settings to give you maximum quality with no regard for the
size of the resulting file. I'm not sure if you see this preset with
other file types or not. I'm no audiophile, so if you are then
I'd suggest listening to others on this list, looking through the help
for CDEX and researching other options and settings with something like
Google.

Casey wrote:
Hi okay I have the newest version of cd ex and I have ben trying
different bit rates and some different presets.

I can't really decide witch one give the best results.
I would like to rip my stuff off of my cd's at about 224 up to 320.
Now I was once told you try the cbr preset witch I have tried.
But I now come to all of you that use cd ex to rip like some rock and
metal and various other types of music with cd ex.
I come to ask all of you for the best settings to use that you are
happy with so that I may give them a try and see if there is some that
I may like to use.
So thank you all and I will look forward to reading any responses that
will be received on this.

2009-05-24 Thread Steve Pattison
Version 1.5 of the Winamp scripts for Window-Eyes are now available on

Removed the keys Control-Windows-T and Control-Windows-Alt-T. This affects all
windows.
They are replaced with:
Alt-Shift-U - Speak the Total Track Time.
Alt-Shift-I - Speak the Elapsed Track Time.
Alt-Shift-O - Speak the Remaining Track Time.
The toggle key has been eliminated. All help sections and documentation have
been
updated as well. The Winamp Script Preferences dialog has also been adjusted.

You're probably looking for a dedicated ID3 tag editor, but I've found
Winamp, Foobar2000 and Windows Explorer all let me edit my ID3 tags. I
haven't used Windows Media Player, but I'd assume it would also let you
do this and would also be accessible. BTW, I find Winamp to be the
easiest of the three. Windows Explorer and Foobar2000 seem to require a
few more keystrokes. Note that I don't do this all of the time, and I
drew my conclusions off of very little data, so I'm sure there are
others with more experience and more valuable opinions.
