Re: removing bookmarks in winamp

2009-08-25 Thread Steve Pattison
Hi Joe,

I don't use JAWS but I use Window-Eyes. I'll try to describe the
process of deleting bookmarks. The method I'm using here is purely
using Winamp commands and should work no matter what screen reader
you're using.

1) When in the main window of Winamp press ALT L to open the Winamp
library.

2) When in the library press TAB until you get to what Window-Eyes
calls a treeview. Move through the treeview with the up and down arrow
keys until the section called Bookmarks is selected.

3) Press TAB until you get to a listview containing a list of all of
your bookmarks. Using the up and down arrow keys select the bookmark
you want to delete.

4) Press TAB in the Winamp library until you get to the Delete button.
Press space on this button and the bookmark is deleted. You are not
asked to confirm that you want to delete the bookmark beforehand so be
careful when deleting bookmarks.

5) Press ALT L once more to close the Winamp library.

I hope this is clear.

Regards Steve.

Please help.

sound card

2009-08-25 Thread Joe
Hi. in answer to your question, My sound card is from creative. Its the X-FI
stream music. I got it for $80 about two years ago, but I think it was just
discontinued and closed out at a price of about $60. You may be still able to
get it at that price. Or maybe its replacement is just as good. Its a card
dedicated mostly to music listening and easy to use if your blind and use Jaws.
Another way to go if your looking for a good card is turtle beach I had a
turtle beach in the windows me days that was better than anything I ever had
but there are no drivers for it with windows XP. so I can't use it any more.
I'd actually look in to turtle beach cards first. I can't remember the number
of it, but I remember reading about a nice one for about $55 that has separate
mic and line jacks. That's hard to fine today in a card. Of course if you
really want to go nuts, you could get a pro card from M audio for about$900.
But that's not necessary unless you have a recording studio and do pro
recording. That being said, you can still get good results doing live recording
if your a musician with some of these mid priced cards.
Take care, Joe.

I have looked into this, listened to it from a Vhorizon dealer who had
downloaded it and it seems to work great. I do not knowh how completely
it does the menues but it does speak well, gets you around and talks
clear and nice. Have your dealer downlod it for you. The vhorizon dealer
was going to download it for me, it costs $20 bucks and seems to do the
job. Read about it on the vlingo site. I might go that way until
something better comes along.

blackbury tour & vlingo help please!

2009-08-25 Thread Lauren
Hi,

I had to get a new phone and bought the blackberry Tour. Verizon tells me I can
download Vlingo to make it accessible for a totally blind person. Is this right
and where can I download it from?

I tried to find a link for downloading on the vlingo.com site, but Jaws either
doesn't read it or it's not there. Help!

Should I have chosen another phone; I have 30 days. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Lauren

I'd like to spend $40 or less. I'm going to be using the mic only for
speaking but I still want something close to broadcast quality. I know you
can't get as good a sound with these little PC. mikes as you can with a
$200 vocal mic, but some of them come pretty close. As I said, I once had
a lab tech that sounded amazing and it was only about $6. I wish I could
remember what one it was but its probably not made any more. If the mic
you have is still available, maybe you could send me an audio clip of it.
I already have a high end sound card so a good mic would be nice to go
with it. Thanks. Joe.
