It quite depends. If you are using WMP 11, then most likely you'll have a tough time getting it to work. If you are using WMP 10 or lower, then it should work fine, providing that you follow the instructions. There's aversion that works with WMP 11, but I have no experience with it, and therefore cannot give you any instructions. Sorry. RE: Batch converting, flac to mp3
Switch from http://nch.com.au/switch/plus.html supports these file types and supports batch processing. I use it with JAWS, but the interface looks simple enough, I don't see why it wouldn't work with Window Eyes. It also has a command line interface, which could be used in a batch file. External Sound Cards with Windows Vista
Hi everyone. With the limitations that Vista has with some sound cards when trying to record using the What You Hear or equivalent options, I'm curious. Would connecting an external sound card allow me to get around this or would it have the same problems? My current internal sound card has an option to record from multiple sources at once, however, when I change to that setting, it'll record JAWS but not my microphone, and I want it to be able to record everything. Thanks for any thoughts. Re: High quality soundcard with accessible configuration software.
Well, Robert, below, points us to other external solutions for mixing and getting around inaccessible control panel software. I just wonder how many folk here have used control surfaces and external mixer combinations successfully with stereo or multi-track recording software - and these certainly start to come into their own when doing multi-track work. One example I like the look of is the Tascam FW-1082 which seems very attractive. One site describing it is: http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/product/4974-tascam-fw-1082.html this is a Firewire device, but many computers do have Firewire sockets. Mention is made of "touch Sensitive" controls though, so how practical are these? there are a lot of these control surface and combined mixers around and I'd like to hear from anyone using one with Sonar, Sony Sound forge 9, etc. We are talking real money outlay here though.
