Synchronizing Metadata with MP3 Stream

2010-02-13 Thread Steve Matzura
If any of you are familiar with DVD playing software that synchronizes
subtitles with the running program, you'll understand the following
question.

Imagine an MP3 file you want to stream which has many songs embedded
in it. Think of a podcast with many sections, or a music show with
many songs being played during the course of the program. As you
know, an MP3 file can have but one set of metadata in it which gets
transmitted when the file starts playing. I'm wondering if there is a
program or plug-in for Winamp which can play a file and, through use
of a file similar to the .SRT files for DVD subtitles, display, or
cause to be displayed, changing metadata at various points in the
program. If there is such a thing, or if anybody knows who might be
interested in developing such a thing, I'd be interested in
communicating with them.

Windows Media Center for Bret

2010-02-13 Thread Ford Blackwell
Bret,

Now that you've had your Media Center computer running for a couple of weeks,
are there any tips or experiences you can offer? I assume you are using the
version that comes with Windows 7?

Anything you can share will be appreciated.

Clifford

Hi, I wasn't sure from your message, weather you know the name of a DVD
playing software that synchronizes subtitles with the running program, or
not. If you do have a name or names, would you write back with them?

Many thanks. Vicky

I haven't used it myself, but there's an application balled MP3Gain that
should do the trick. If you can't find it yourself with Google, Bing,
Yahoo or some other search engine, maybe someone else can post a direct
link.

Oops, sorry, I didn't realize until after I sent the message that you
were talking about WAV files. Good luck, and I hope someone else can help.

More about any free software for changing gain of .wav files

2010-02-13 Thread Jeff Samco
What I'm wishing to due is to decrease the volume of the 101 wav
files used in the Window-Eyes Progress Indicator script. I had the
idea of using the free Switch program to convert them to MP3, then
adjust their volume and convert them back to wav. However, the
intermediate MP3 files seem to be not recognized by Windows Media
Player nor by MP3 Direct Cut. So, I'm again stuck. Any suggestions?

Jeff

Oh yes, I'm almost positive VLC can do this easily.
