Came across the "censor" function in Goldwave the other day whilst doing some audio editing, for those who are preparing material for broadcast then you'll want to take note of this handy feature. Find an offensive word you wish to "censor" from the audio to be going out in your broadcast? Select the word or words and apply the "Censor" function, the words will be replaced with a 1KHZ tone, very quick and very handy! I stand to be corrected but as far as I'm concerned, Goldwave is the best value-for-money 2 track audio editor on the market and even better value is had with all the accessibility features Goldwave has to offer plus a developer who has truly listened to people's concerns and suggestions. Larry Skutchan of The American Printing House for the Blind discusses and demonstrates some features of Book Port Plus, a new product from APH due for release some time in March. Larry talks about the philosophy behind the design of the product, giving us a glimpse into the decision-making process. He talks about why some features are present in the unit, why some features are not yet present, and what we can expect to see in subsequent updates to the product. Why did APH choose Vocalizer as the text to speech engine of choice? Why not Eloquence? Is there a possibility that another text-to-speech engine might be used in the future? What does APH plan to do with the wireless capabilities of the unit? Could we actually be able to listen to Internet radio from a Book Port Plus? How does one navigate menus and change settings on the unit? There is no way to provide a tutorial on how to use Book Port Plus in just 53 minutes, but I think Main Menu listeners will find Larry's examples and insights most fascinating. Useful and handy functions in Goldwave
Hi! The Book Transfer software that comes with Book Port Plus will handle brf files by translating them to txt but the files will be handled natively by the unit later. NLS Cartridges
I ordered 2 blank NLS talking book cartridges from APH.org today. I will use these cartridges to download talking books and magazines from NLS online service. I don't like to use USB flash drives. Can any of you describe what the NLS talking book cartridges look like and what kind of USB cable do I need to use to connect this to my computer's USB port in order to transfer the downloaded books. I understand it will show up as a removable drive in My Computer or Computer area. No problem there. No problem moving/copying it to the cartridge and then inserting the cardtridge into the NLS Talking Book player. I called my local library to see if the player was available and it was. I got the advanced model. I heard a very good podcast about this player on blindcooltech.com if you want to learn more about it. Right now I am waiting for the unit and never touch one of these cartridges. Any info is greatly appreciated. Thank you. BURNING LONG FILES TO CD
Hello List Members, I have a rather long file that I wish to burn to CD. But here is the problem. The length of this file, is 10 minutes and 24 seconds long. This would take up the whole side of a 10 inch peace of vinyl. My question is, how do I put this file on a CD with 15 other files? Thinks in advance. John.
