My provider is Mediacom. I'm using the Motorola DCT6412 box, but the
driver

seems to support most if not all of the DCT64 series. You want to use the
left firewire port if you are facing the front of the box. It's been
reported that people have had problems getting the data if they used the
right port (again if you are facing the front of the box).

Once the drivers are installed for XP, you use a program called,
capDVHS.exe to capture the stream, and save the file as a .TS file. You
can set the timer so that once you start recording, it will only record
for
the specified amount of time. I can play the .TS files using either
Windows

Media Player, or a program called VLC Media Player. Though the Windows
Media Player seems to be more accessible. One thing to consider, if you
don't have a lot of free space on your HD, you might run into some
problems.

A raw HD stream with its audio can take up a whole lot of real-estate.

Blessings,

Brian

I'm now able to record the raw stream off of my cable box via my firewire
port, and play the recorded audio and video back on the computer. Is
there
a way to access the SAP channel audio contained in the raw stream? Will
any
of the major media players out there i.e.. Winamp, Windows Media Player,
and
so on allow me to hear the SAP content, or is there some kind of software
that will allow me to extract it out of the original .TS file that
contains
everything? Any and all help, as well as input would be greatly
appreciated.

Blessings,

Brian

2010-03-19 Thread Brian Hansen
If Cox uses the DCT6412 box, or the DCT64XX series of boxes, it should work.
Here's the link to the instructions, as well as the software and drivers.
http://replayguide.sourceforge.net/dct6412/

Yes, it records both the video, as well as the audio. The audio is
basically just as the box is getting it.

Brian

Hi Kevin, Here is one site I found on the Flying blind news letter this

Hi.

I have XM Satellite Radio, which is broadcasting all of the Men's NCAA
basketball games. They mention on their broadcasts that if you go to

http://ncaa.com

you can listen to the radio feeds of these games. I went to this site,
and

didn't see anything. I did have a bit better luck by going to

http://ncaa.com/mmod

There's a link to start the video feed of a game playing. I was able to
start it, but I had no way to switch between games, and I couldn't get to
the radio feeds. The reason I want to access the radio feeds is to hear
games that happened earlier today, especially the upsets.

Anybody know how to work this site, or is there another site I can go to
to

hear the archives? I looked for a contact link, but I couldn't find one.

Thanks in advance.

I was able to listen to the video feeds at www.cbssports.com without any
problem. Would like to find radio feeds, though.

Re: Sling box Sling Box recording software by Applian Technologies

Subject: Sling box Sling Box recording software by Applian Technologies

I own 2 Sling boxes here. Hooking them up is no issue. The Sling Player
software is used to watch/hear your set top box in another place or state
or country. You need to know how to open ports on your router. Port
forwarding. Sling tech support is no longer free. They charge a fee now so
I learned to do all this over 3 years ago. The Sling hardware box I have is
the Classic and a Sling AV unit. When you connect the Sling hardware via
ethernet cable to your router a setup screen comes up. You need to know the
model of your set top box wheter its cable box or satellite box, the
connection type RCA, S-Video, HDMI. You run some tests like to see if the
IR Blaster sensor works so the Slinbox can changed your terminal box
channels. In some parts of this setup you need to use your JAWS cursor. The
recording software is made by Applian Technologies and not by Sling Media
who make the SlingBox. Sling Media is now owned by Echostar who own Dish
Network. I was asked by Applian to test the Sling recording software over 2
years ago and it works with JAWS. It allows you to record the signal that's
coming into your Slingbox hardware box. Can record on the fly (right now)
or by timer (later time). This recording software is called At-Large
Recorder. I haven't used this software for over 8 months now as the
computer it was running died and haven't re-installed it on the other
computer I have. The makers of the Sling box do not like users recording
the tv signal. These recordings can be shared on the internet but the video
files are huge when left at default settings.

If you are nerd and good with JAWS it can be done. Takes time and
patience. Plan ahead for this.

Re: tv tuner card that will work on satlite dishes?

2010-03-19 Thread Brent Harding
not sure if they do. What I mean is the free to air or some call it FTA
content can be received, supposedly, according to this sat talk show I
listen to, with cards for the computer. I don't know that there's anything
real interesting on there as I can't put up a big dish in my apartment, but
this would be all the unscrambled stuff on various satellites. It won't do
Dish or Direct though.

On another note, is there a way, with a tuner card or any other means, I can
control anything besides the DVR feature on my dish network via computer?
As it is, unless I'm incredibly stupid the DVR screen looks terrible.

There must be something which will work because they say you can now
 program
the satellite receiver from your sell phone or laptop.
