Re: Searching for Recommendations: 4-Channel Mixer forOnlineBroadcasting

2011-09-05 Thread G. McFarlane

Hi
Can I ask if the compressor mentioned here would be best employed as an
input for 2 mikes to avoid clipping before going into a mixer, or to
compress/balance the signal coming out of the mixer before it goes into the
line in of the soundcard which will then be streamed. Perhaps both?

Thanks.

Hi. Am based in the UK and found lots on Amazon, but many of them were very
cheap (£15-ish) and seemed to be called microphone mixers.
I presume that they're not powerful enough to channel something as powerful
as a laptop or USB soundcard (hence the low price), so am trying to make
sure what the differences are and to ensure that I get an affordable product
which won't go to waste. I presumed there might be some people on here who
already use appropriate gear for broadcasting or DJ-ing and might therefore
be able to advise from first-hand experience or knowledge of how these
things work.

Cheers, Danny

Subject: Searching for Recommendations: 4-Channel Mixer for Online
Broadcasting

Hi all. I'm looking to do some internet radio broadcasting and,
having found that broadcasting directly through my computer or
soundcard makes my microphone sound horrible (muffled, buzzing noise
behind vocals, popping when turned on/off, etc), I'm looking for a
suitable and accessible 4-channel mixer which I can use to channel my
soundcard and microphone. I'd also like to have the option of
plugging headphones into it so that I can hear the results of my work
as it happens, and features such as being able to use more than one
channel at once (such as talking over the start/end of a track) are
also very important. Unfortunately I'm very short of space, so I need
something which has good quality output but which is as compact as
possible. I know this is quite a specific set of requirements, but if
anyone knows of such a model which is accessible for use by someone
with total sight loss (no issues with seeing lights showing feedback
etc), I'd be grateful to hear details. I'd also appreciate advice on
any adaptors which I might need to help me plug 3.5 mm jacks and an XLR

microphone into such a machine, as this is my first time of exploring this
area of production.

Many thanks in advance for any help and advice, Danny

MusicMenu App now Available for window-eyes

2011-09-05 Thread Steve Pattison
Hi all,

A new MusicMenu app for Window-Eyes has just been released and can be
downloaded from App Central at

https://www.gwmicro.com/App_Central

Details about this app are below. -Steve.

Press Alt-Shift-M to play music files. Select a file from the list and
press play to hear the file. Press next to hear the next selection. Pres
previous to hear the previous selection. Press pause_resume to stop and
resume a selection. Press repeat_song to keep playing the same song
repeatedly. Press stop to stop a file or just select another file and
press play. Press close to close the app. If A song is playing when you
close the app, it will continue to play. Press help to go to the
standard help dialog. Press up arrow and down arrow on the volume
control. The volume can be adjusted from 1 to 10--the default is 5. The
new volume will take effect any time a song starts playing--using play,
next, previous, or pause_resume. The short-cuts for the options are
listed below: Play--enter Next--n Previous--p Pause_Resume--a
Repeat_Song--r Stop--s Close--escape Help--h Volume--v All of the music
files that you want included in the list must be in a subfolder of the
folder where the MusicMenu app resides.

The subfolder which is created is called MusicMenu This app requires
the GWAudioKit to be fully functional. If the GWAudioKit is not
installed, the app will still work; however, only .wav files will be
played. Also, pause_resume, repeat_song, and volume will not be
available!

Hi,

Tom just a brief question do you use scheduling for anything else except for
Tapin-radio? If so and if it works then the problem would have to be in TR even
though its running good almost everywhere. I cant think of any program using
task scheduler except for the system itself.
