Re: Skype and GW Connect
Somebody said installing Gw Connect will install Skype for you. This is untrue. Installing Gw Connect allows you to connect to the Skype service, but does not install the Skype client for you. In fact, you can use Gw Connect independent of the Skype client if you wish. Re: Skype and GW Connect
Hi, and with the latest version of GW Connect there is really no need for sluggish Skype anymore. The only thing people might be missing is the vidio support. GW Connect has grown up to be a very versatyle replacement for Skype. RE: Skype and GW Connect
Chris, I'm glad you clarified. I am the person who said GW Connect installs Skype for you. It sounds as though I should have written that GW Connect makes it unnecessary to install Skype unless you want a separate iteration of Skype to run on your system. -Original Message- From: Pc-audio [mailto:pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org] On Behalf Of Chris H Sent: Monday, April 15, 2013 3:28 AM To: PC Audio Discussion List Subject: Re: Skype and GW Connect Somebody said installing Gw Connect will install Skype for you. Re: Skype and GW Connect
With GWConnect, there's no easy way to return a missed call. For this reason, I'm still using Skype 3.8 which BTW is not sluggish at all. I've requested that they include a call back button on the missed call announcements, but it hasn't been done as yet despite the fact that I made this request over a year ago. Re: Skype and GW Connect
I used GW Connect for a while until the introductory announcement that comes up when you log on and the periodic sales pitches began to wear on me. I also was disturbed by the thought that I was automatically connected to the GW Micro site for examination of my computer for Window-Eyes. Since the free program called Skype Talking makes Skype accessible, I went back to using that combination and I am now free of interruptions and intrusions. It would be more appropriate to discuss GW Connect on the GW Micro e-mail list. Thanks, Tom To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: pc-audio-unsubscr...@pc-audio.org
