Ah, thanks for letting me know. That's good to know. What I wanted to know
though was if the LS ones especially the ones that do talk and I guess that
the LS 12 doesn't? Um do they come with the software? I didn't use a PC. I
actually had nothing to do with it. I guess the previous owner did it. They
used it's own format option and formatted it. Which is what I axidentally
did with my DM-420. I fixed it too while I was at it. So yeah. The LS one I
wanted was the LS-100 any ways. So that's what I asked if it came with the
software incase one has that axident. That's why the TTS engine idea is
better. The only one that had it though was the DM-4. It sounded kind of
yucky though. But at least you don't have to worry so much. And it could
read file names.

Wel, their support are sometimes helpfull and sometimes not, not sure what
they up to, but I guess when calling them you will get better results. So
what was the problem with your recorder? I was thinking later on that maybe
you formatted on the pc, and they spisificly say never format using a pc.
Yes the ls100,ls14, ls7,ls3, dm 620 and dm
670 all have voice guidance. But you must be carefull, because the dm
650 and ls12 for example does not have that and when reading the description
sometimes you might be leeded to think they do include that.

When I went into the menus, he didn't see the menus like you normally do.
Unless he went into them, he did see some, and then he just saw some
options right out on the main menu. Which he has told me is the case
now with my DM-420. I tried the software, there's no option to restore
the unit to factory state with all the system files in it and all. I
notised the system folder was gone when I looked at it after unboxing
it. So, what now?

It's in the display and sound menu, the sixth choice; once in the
display and sound menu, go down 5 times to voice guidance setting,
press button to go in and button again to choose on and off setting.
Then up or down to on and off, then button to execute it.

on on a DM-520? The menus are a bit different then on the DM-420. On
that one I know it's under the device menu I think, but I don't know
how to set it up on the 520. I tried to upload the speech files from
the software and still nothing and it didn't do it. Were there 2
versions of the 520? My nephew said there wasn't an option to turn
the gidence on. So he says anyways. I can't remember where it is and
I know it should have one. Note too, this is a refirvished unit from
Amazon.
