RE: configuring eac
I always use FLAC when ripping a CD. I have ripped my CD collection with EAC and using FLAC as the audio encoder. Using a lossless format gives me excellent audio quality when listening on my Sonos connected to a external DAC and hifi amplifier. But the main reason for me to use FLAC and not a lossy format like mp3 is it gives me a lot of options when I of some reason need to convert the file(s) to a different format. Storage is cheap and I have my music collection stored on a file server which is mirrored to a remote server + backup on 2 usb harddrives. -Original Message- From: pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org [mailto:pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org] On Behalf Of Jim Ruby Sent: 8. august 2012 10:25 To: 'PC Audio Discussion List' Subject: RE: configuring eac I figured it out, I did not change the drop down near the top to the correct command line format, still interested in what others are using though. It has been a wile since I did this stuff and I did it at 128 kbps mp3 with heck I do not even remember the program, bet on cdex though. Does eac have an update feature to check for latest versions? RE: Spotify question.
In my opinion no! I'm a JAWS user and Spotify is somewhat usable with the JAWS cursor and some built in keyboard shortcuts but it's a pain to use. Personally I don't care that much about the Spotify PC client since I used it on my Sonos and iPhone. I used to be a Spotify Premium subscriber but lately I have experienced quite a lot of problems streaming from Spotify on my Sonos system. Apparently I'm not a lone and I read a thread were people experienced the same as me and that they have contacted Spotify but received no response. So after a lot of streaming problems, accessibility issues I finally said goodbye and cancelled my subscription. -Original Message- From: pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org [mailto:pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org] On Behalf Of Jim Noseworthy Sent: 19. juli 2012 16:19 To: 'PC Audio Discussion List' Subject: Spotify question. The Spotify desktop is inaccessible on the PC and I guess it is on Mac as well. However I'm a Spotify Premium user because it works nice with my Sonos system and on the iPhone. No, unfortunately I don't think so. I totally agree about FaceBook. I signed up for Spotify prior to the stupid FaceBook account requirement. I have not seen any attempts to force me to move to the new FaceBook account/integration but as I said it looks like new customers is required to have a FaceBook account. Among other things, they provide the ability to set multiple time markers for an audio track you are playing, as well as commands for having JAWS speak the elapsed, remaining and total time of an audio track. Essentially, they provide Foobar 2000 with some of the functionality available in the JAWS scripts for Winamp. The scripts are for JAWS versions 12 and 13, but should also be compatible with JAWS 11 and earlier versions at least as far back as 9. However, I can't make any promises as I have only tested them on JAWS 12 and 13. The scripts can be downloaded from http://www.jfwscripts.cjb.net For any Winap users checking out the scripts, please note that while many of the JAWS commands are the same as in Winamp, there are some minor differences in order to accomodate the Foobar UI. Cheers and enjoy, Andrew. RE: Foobar, ripping and a problem
Foobar2000 only includes the FLAC decoder needed for playback of FLAC files. To create FLAC files you need the FLAC encoder. I've never used foobar2000 to rip and encode to FLAC but I guess it uses the flac.exe command line encoder. Download the FLAC encoder binary from: http://flac.sf.net There should be a binary for windows here and just unzip the flac.exe to the foobar2000 directory etc. Then point foobar2000 to the location where you put flac.exe. -Original Message- From: pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org [mailto:pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org] On Behalf Of Christopher Bartlett Sent: 5. april 2011 16:21 To: 'PC Audio Discussion List' Subject: RE: Foobar, ripping and a problem Win XP and JFW 12. I've scoured my drive and can't find it, nor can I find a .flac converter listed in the installed components, nor in the installable components from the site. Foobar will in fact play .flac files just fine though, so I'm rather confused. How do I point Foobar to the .flac converter?
