RE: Windows media player.

2005-11-29 Thread bmw
Interesting you should ask that. In my case, it doesn't ask if you want to
open. You are asked if you want to download the file.

One thing, though, is that it saves me from having to go to the web page.

Now, how could I make those files playable using Winamp? Isn't there some
type of file extension that you have to set up to do that?

I like to go to BillSparks radio website quite often however, when I

file down load mode. Now I understand what's going on but I don't
 understand why. That's
because my other computer does not do this, I might get a message asking

Hi, Linn, you can press alt f for file, and p for properties and press
enter, while the stream in windows media player is playing, tab down to the
location edit box, and copy that address to the clip board, then open up a
text editor such as note pad, paste it in, and at the end of the file add
the following ?SWMEXt=.wma and cut it to the clip board again, and paste
this in to the open location dialog of winamp with control l and control v,
and the stream should start playing in winamp.

For whatever reason, the bass control is graded out on the sound blaster
card. So is the treble control on some of the cards.

Hopefully, you have a bass control knob on the speaker itself.

I just purchased a new set of speakers for my computer. The bass is
rather
stronger than what I'm used to. I have a Sound Blaster Live card. I know

that in the old DOS days you had bass and treble options as well as
volume
and balance, but in the Windows volume control I just see volume and
balance. Is there a way to adjust bass and treble as well?

Hello,

I'm considering purchasing the Sound Forge 7.0 bundle. I've seen
prices of around $249.00 for the new, not upgrade version, and also the
nonstudent version. I'd like opinions as to whether or not this is a
good price.

Also do Brian Hartgen's Window-Eyes set files and tutorials apply to
version 7.0 even though they were done for either version 5 or 6, I
believe?

I'd also be interested in any other Window-Eyes set files for
version 7 if they exist, as well as any differences in using Sound Forge
version 6 as compared to version 7 from a blind person's prospective.
Thanks for any information.

  Newsgroups: alt.comp.blind-users

  Greetings,

I am a MCP, and long time ago I developed a simple
  program with the
objective of allow the user to play music using the computer
  keyboard. It is
not apropriated for professional uses, of course,
  but is very simple to
  use,
it is free and doesn't require any kind of
  configuration.

The software was not created especifically for
  handicapped people (by
  the
way, I'm not blind), but several blind users were
  able to use it
  without any
problem. Once the program is started, it is ready to
  play. Some
  settings
like Volume, Instrument and Chords can be defined
  using the keys from
  F1 to
F12 (the keys are already programmed to perform
  theese actions). If you
  are
able to see a little, or have some friend that can
  describe an image
  for
you, ask him to access this :

 http://pianoeletronico.tripod.com/images/piano_tela.gif
  . It is a
  screenshot
of the main screen of the program, it shows how
  simple and easy to use
  the
  program is.

One of the most interesting things in the program is
  the fact that you
  can
play using any one of the 128 Instrument Set (from
  Gerenal MIDI
  Standard),
and even press more than one key at the same time to
  play
  poliphonically.

Play music using the computer keyboard may seen
  pointless if you have a
  real
piano or eletronic keyboard, but consider the
  possibility to play
  anytime,
anywere (perhaps in your lunch break, and I presume
  that you don't have
  a
  piano in you office!).

You can download the program using this link :

 http://pianoeletronico.tripod.com/files/Setup_Piano_Eletronico.zip

The program is absolutelly free, and it never
  expires.

I created a Home-Page with all the information about
  the program, but
unfortunelly the site is in Portuguese only by now.
  The link is
  http://pianoeletronico.tripod.com . If you have
  experience with Visual
Basic, you can download an Open-Source (but simpler) version of the
  program
  at http://pianoeletronico.tripod.com/minipiano.html

You can see an English version of the site
  (performed by Google
  translation
  engine) here :

 http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fpianoeletronico.t

 ripod.com%2Flangpair=pt%7Cenhl=pt-BRie=UTF-8ie=UTF-8oe=UT
  F-8prev=%2Flanguage_tools

However, the translated version has some flaws, so
  I decided to
  perform my
own translation of the most important information
  about the program.
  Here it
  comes :

Electronic Piano 2.0 is a Freeware program
  (gratuitous) with the
  objective
to allow the user to play musical notes and chords
  through the computer
keyboard. Even making use of the MIDI resources of
  the sound card (like
  the
avaibility of 128 musical instruments), the program
  doesn't require
knowledge or configuration of Drivers or any device connected to the
  system.
Basically, Electronic Piano 2.0 is a program
  indicated for people who
  simply
wants to play music in the computer at any time,
  without have to
  purchase
and install a professional music edition software
  (usually expensive).

  Characteristics of the Program :
  - 128 musical instruments available
  - 47 different sounds of drums and percussion
  - Poliphony (possibility to play more than one note
  at the same time)
  - Control of Main Volume and Pan
  - Combine up to 3 different musical instruments (any
  one of the 128)
  - Graphical panel with the keys
  - Note lenght is determined by the amount of time
  that the key is
  pressed
  - Execution of Major, Minor and 7 Chords by
  pressing only one key
  - 7 octaves can be selected

  Information about the programmer :
Mauricio Antunes Oliveira is a Programmer/Analyst
  and a Microsoft
  Certified

can get around just fine.

Now, the flash doesn't work real well. But, if I am curious about a

again and XM shows me what the artist is, the track and the album.

Now, my question is, why, on the weekends, do they play things that are
a week old but go live during the week.

You can click on the buttons that says decades, news, sports, etc. Once
done, you'll see channels for that genre you chose. It is more of a
visual thing, but I had little success with it. I believe I didn't see
the entire channel lineup for the genre I chose, but was friendly
enough. I wouldn't pay $7.95, ($3.95 for subscribers) a month for
something I couldn't fully use. I would have gotten in touch with tech
support, but I'd rather pay for the satellite than the web.

Who ever is selling the XM-PCR on Ebay is trying to gouge you. places
such as HP.com, My Radio store and Satellite Radio Super-store are
supposedly temporarily out of the units. when they are in stock, they
can be had for $59.00 to $69.00. If I were you, see if a Terk antenna
might work.

Hi everyone,

Does anyone know where I can get an XM antenna that has a good length of
cable and will be compatible, fit the antenna jack, on my XM PCR? My old
antenna is kind of totally destroyed, and I still don't have a
replacement for it yet. I had planned just to buy another pcr unit off
Ebay just to get the antenna, but for $300 and up . . . good
Lord!Everyone has gone nuts selling these things!

I enjoy the XM radio service, and as far as I know, there is no other
way for a blind person to be able to access artist names and titles
unless we are using the PCR units.

Thanks for any advice. I'll be polite and not say exactly what I think
of the RIAA, but are they so ignorant that they don't realize you could
record music from the PCR and any XM unit with a headphone jack, and
you don't need a specialized program to do it. I hate the fact that they
are picking on the PCR units just because of this fact.

I have seen them as high as $300. I don't understand this at all unless
