Interesting you should ask that. In my case, it doesn't ask if you want to open. You are asked if you want to download the file. RE: Dampening Bass on New Speakers
For whatever reason, the bass control is graded out on the sound blaster card. So is the treble control on some of the cards. Hopefully, you have a bass control knob on the speaker itself. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Bruce Toews Sent: Monday, December 20, 2004 7:25 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Dampening Bass on New Speakers I just purchased a new set of speakers for my computer. I've seen prices of around $249.00 for the new, not upgrade version, and also the nonstudent version. I'd like opinions as to whether or not this is a good price. Also do Brian Hartgen's Window-Eyes set files and tutorials apply to version 7.0 even though they were done for either version 5 or 6, I believe? I'd also be interested in any other Window-Eyes set files for version 7 if they exist, as well as any differences in using Sound Forge version 6 as compared to version 7 from a blind person's prospective. Shawn --- Steve Pattison [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: From: Maurício Oliveira [EMAIL PROTECTED] Newsgroups: alt.comp.blind-users Greetings, I am a MCP, and long time ago I developed a simple program with the objective of allow the user to play music using the computer keyboard. It is not apropriated for professional uses, of course, but is very simple to use, it is free and doesn't require any kind of configuration. The software was not created especifically for handicapped people (by the way, I'm not blind), but several blind users were able to use it without any problem. Once the program is started, it is ready to play. Some settings like Volume, Instrument and Chords can be defined using the keys from F1 to F12 (the keys are already programmed to perform theese actions). If you are able to see a little, or have some friend that can describe an image for you, ask him to access this : http://pianoeletronico.tripod.com/images/piano_tela.gif . It is a screenshot of the main screen of the program, it shows how simple and easy to use the program is. One of the most interesting things in the program is the fact that you can play using any one of the 128 Instrument Set (from Gerenal MIDI Standard), and even press more than one key at the same time to play poliphonically. Play music using the computer keyboard may seen pointless if you have a real piano or eletronic keyboard, but consider the possibility to play anytime, anywere (perhaps in your lunch break, and I presume that you don't have a piano in you office!). You can download the program using this link : http://pianoeletronico.tripod.com/files/Setup_Piano_Eletronico.zip The program is absolutelly free, and it never expires. I created a Home-Page with all the information about the program, but unfortunelly the site is in Portuguese only by now. The link is http://pianoeletronico.tripod.com . If you have experience with Visual Basic, you can download an Open-Source (but simpler) version of the program at http://pianoeletronico.tripod.com/minipiano.html You can see an English version of the site (performed by Google translation engine) here : http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fpianoeletronico.t ripod.com%2Flangpair=pt%7Cenhl=pt-BRie=UTF-8ie=UTF-8oe=UT F-8prev=%2Flanguage_tools However, the translated version has some flaws, so I decided to perform my own translation of the most important information about the program. Here it comes : Electronic Piano 2.0 is a Freeware program (gratuitous) with the objective to allow the user to play musical notes and chords through the computer keyboard. Even making use of the MIDI resources of the sound card (like the avaibility of 128 musical instruments), the program doesn't require knowledge or configuration of Drivers or any device connected to the system. Basically, Electronic Piano 2.0 is a program indicated for people who simply wants to play music in the computer at any time, without have to purchase and install a professional music edition software (usually expensive). Characteristics of the Program : - 128 musical instruments available - 47 different sounds of drums and percussion - Poliphony (possibility to play more than one note at the same time) - Control of Main Volume and Pan - Combine up to 3 different musical instruments (any one of the 128) - Graphical panel with the keys - Note lenght is determined by the amount of time that the key is pressed - Execution of Major, Minor and 7 Chords by pressing only one key - 7 octaves can be selected Information about the programmer : Mauricio Antunes Oliveira is a Programmer/Analyst and a Microsoft Certified

RE: CXM PCR compatible antennas
Actually, I have seen the PCR antennas on EBay for reasonable prices. No, you would not have to buy a whole unit. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Gary G. If I were you, see if a Terk antenna might work. -- ANN [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hi everyone, Does anyone know where I can get an XM antenna that has a good length of cable and will be compatible, fit the antenna jack, on my XM PCR? My old antenna is kind of totally destroyed, and I still don't have a replacement for it yet. I had planned just to buy another pcr unit off Ebay just to get the antenna, but for $300 and up . . . good Lord!Everyone has gone nuts selling these things! I enjoy the XM radio service, and as far as I know, there is no other way for a blind person to be able to access artist names and titles unless we are using the PCR units. Thanks for any advice. I'll be polite and not say exactly what I think of the RIAA, but are they so ignorant that they don't realize you could record music from the PCR and any XM unit with a headphone jack, and you don't need a specialized program to do it. I hate the fact that they are picking on the PCR units just because of this fact. ~Ann ___ PC-Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Get your name as your email address. RE: Why the High Ebay Prices on XM PCR?
Will! I have seen them as high as $300. I don't understand this at all unless people are just plain stupid. Maybe because they are discontinued. I was sure hoping to find one a lot cheaper than that. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Will Smith Sent: Friday, September 10, 2004 10:23 PM To: PC audio discussion list. What's the deal here folks? I can'tfigure out why these units are going for so much, although I do like my unit! RE: PREMIER ASSISTAVE TECHNOLOGY
What difference does that make? If the software works, buy it. Of course, reading reviews, asking people and trying demos is a good idea. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of russell Bourgoin Sent: Thursday, September 09, 2004 1:13 PM To: PC audio discussion list.
