Hi, yes I would be interested and thanks. I got a Panasonic rxD29 CD radio cassette recorder for Christmas and I'm thinking of reviewing it for this list, would anyone be interested? What's so special about this boom-box? Well, it plays MP3 and WMA files on either CD-ROM or CD-RW CD'S and does this job very well with a choice of decoder software, various surround-sound modes etc. To my knowledge, this portable is the first of its kind made by a leading consumer electronics manufacturer to be marketed in Australia, and as far as I'm aware, other manufacturers like Sony etc are not marketing any such device with so many detailed features etc. Teac have a CD radio which will do the job at half the price but... well... you get what you pay for and the Teac is a toy compared to the Panasonic beauty. Its odd really as you see plenty of CD walkmans and CD micro/mini systems which play MP3 but not too many boom-boxes which do it. Anyway if their is enough interest? then I'll draft my impressions. Its interesting to note that these things can be a bit hard to track down, all the places that my Father visited before Christmas had run out of stock. -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- Version: PGP 8.1 Comment: A Member Of The TFT BBS Digital Security Initiative iQA/AwUBQc8eaylBPqY64aUBEQIewwCfdhG1xAFQJ94EtjHljV4i7a9/8/UAoOWm VisNb60m4wiCC7zK0p7hdjSN =sn2q -END PGP SIGNATURE- http://www.tft-bbs.com/grtdane/Dane Trethowan No virus found in this outgoing message. Re: creative nomad jukebox 3 mp3 player
Hi all, what is a wma file? Thanks, David - Original Message - From: Kevin Lloyd [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: PC audio discussion list. [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Sunday, November 07, 2004 3:32 PM Subject: Re: creative nomad jukebox 3 mp3 player Hi George. Can't give those details for this particular model but I expect with regards to the shuffle question it will be the same as that for my own player the jukebox 2. Basically, you connect the player to your computer using the USB connection and then use the notmad explorer software to access the audio tracks. This is a folder on the MP3 player that contains all of your MP3, WAV WMA files. You can then either use control + A to select all tracks or highlight a single track. You then press the applications key which will bring up a context menu. Arrowing down the list will give you options such as play, play on your computer and add to playlist. You add the track or tracks to the playlist. You have the option to add to an existing playlist or to create a new playlist of your own naming. When you have added all of the tracks that you want in your playlist, you then press backspace to take you up a level which takes you out of the audio tracks folder and puts you in the main area. Pressing the letter P will take you to playlists and pressing enter will open this folder. You can then arrow up and down the list of playlists until you find the playlist you're interested in. When it's highlighted, press the applications key again and a context menu will open. Simply arrow down to shuffle and press enter. You now have a random playlist. Generally, I only have one playlist that I've called unimaginatively All. At present, there's only 355 tracks in there but I've had nearly 2,000 tracks in a playlist previously. The jukebox 2 is a 10GB player and can hold approximately 2,500 MP3 files encoded at 128kbps or 5,000 WMA files. Regards. Now, when installing winamp 5.05, be sure to uncheck the modern skin support in the tree-view in the installer of winamp, and also the winamp agent and the visualizations. This is because all the components are selected by default, and pressing the space bar on an item unselects it so it won't be installed, and if the modern skin support is not installed, you can't make the mistake of accidently selecting it when you're arrowing up and down the preferences tree-view.
