Live 365

2012-06-09 Thread Marsha
Hi
Is anyone using Live 365? I am using the pay version. Recently, I have
not been able to use IE with Live 365. Whenever I try to use it, I get this
message missing parameters. When I contacted Live 365, they said it was
because I was using Winamp, which is supposed to be useable with the Pay
version. It doesn't matter what player I try to use, I still get the same
message. I can use Firefox; however, it is much more difficult because the
only thing the links say is listen live. It isn't a Jaws thing because a
sighted person says that is the way it appears on the screen. Even the
Facebook link says listen Live. I hope someone might have an answer to
this problem because Live 365 is my favorite source of streaming audio.
Thanks for any help with this matter.

Skype calling

2011-09-14 Thread Marsha
Hi
I hope this is OK on this list. I am using Skype 3.5 and Jaws 10,
although the Jaws 10 may not be relevant. I have all the scrips for Jaws.
I have the keyboard shortcuts turned on. The problem is that I can not make
a call. If I try to call someone, it will ring once and then disconnect.
The strange thing is that it calls the test call correctly. Does anyone
know what I might need to change to fix this, or is it on the Skype end.
Thanks for any help you can give me.

Winamp and AOL Radio

2011-03-29 Thread Marsha

Hi
I was wondering if anyone knows of a way to add AOL Radio stations to the
Winamp Bookmarks. If I can find out how to do it, I do have someone with
eyes who can help; however, they can't figure out how to do it either.
When we go to online services, we click AOL Radio. There are two choices.
The one I am interested in are the categories of music. When we click on
that, there is just an empty space. If we try to use Shoutcast to get to
the AOL Radio stations, it goes to the AOL player. I can play the AOL
stations with the player; however there is no control of any of the
functions, other than the play links. Does anyone have any clues? Thanks
for the help. Oh I almost forgot. I have Winamp as the default players for
Shoutcast. I am using the latest version of Winamp.

From the review at
http://mp3.about.com/od/digitalmusicdelivery/fr/Rhapsodyreview.htm, it says:

File Formats:
Rhapsody has its own DRM system just like the iTunes Store does to
protect its music files. The DRM system that is used is known as Helix.
The file format that is used with this encryption technology is RAX (AAC
encapsulated in Helix). You can alternatively download WMA files if you
prefer; these are protected with Microsoft’s WMDRM system.

I don't use Rhapsody myself, but the implication that you could only get
Real audio files from Rhapsody didn't sound right to me, so a quick trip
to Google gave me the above information.

Subject: Is there an accessible MP3 player that works with Rhapsody?

 Greetings list:

I teach a music appreciation class at a local community college. In the
 fall
of this year, I am switching to a new textbook, The Musical Experience by
John Chiego. Every instructor of the class receives a year of Rhapsody to
 Go
which allows one to transfer songs from Rhapsody to a supported MP3
 player.
Each chapter of the text has an accompanying playlist. I am familiar with
using Rhapsody and have no trouble there. I have also been playing with
Applian Technology's Replay Media Catcher program to grab the playlists
 and
convert them to MP3 files. Applian says this is legal, but I have to
 wonder
if Rhapsody would be thrilled. I will use Media Catcher if I have no
 other
option, but an MP3 player with attached speakers would be preferable to
 CDs
and a boom box anyway. Does anyone have any experience with any of the
 MP3
players supported by Rhapsody? Any help would be appreciated.

Re: DTV Converter Boxes

2008-05-01 Thread Marsha
Hi
You really wouldn't need to power down the receiver if you wanted to use
signals off of the air. You could hit the tv/sat button.

Hello Brent,
In the back of your dish receiver, there are 2 coaxial cable jacks.
One of the jacks is the mane output which goes in to your TV.
The other cable jack is the antenna input jack.
This jack will let a signal pass directly to your TV, but you have to power
down your dish receiver in order for the signal to pass through to your TV.
Where the cable line is, this is where you will put the converter.
Between the cable line and the dish receiver.
My best regards.
  John.

I'm wondering also how one might get both boxes hooked to a single TV? As
 I
see it, you're probably paying around $6.99 to Dish for the locals that
 you
do get without the one they don't carry for whatever reason, in adition to
whatever package of other channels you would subscribe to. Apparently, I
have the option of getting Dish at this place, they probably have it in
 the
wire with the free 25 analog channels or something. Next year, how can I
hook up a converter box and the Dish receiver both to the same input on my
TV, since it only has one coax in? Can I just use a splitter and set one
 to
channel 3 and the other to 4 to switch between them, since my TV has only
one input? I find it odd to pay extra to add locals when cable always has
them no matter what package you took.

 Thanks.

 High Donald,
I don't remember who it was, but someone said something about having a
satellite and or a cable box, a DTV converter is not needed.
The problem with this for me is, I have Dish Network.
I get some loco channels, but it wont pick up WCJV.
Here in Lake City Florida, you have to have either cable or an antenna to
 get that channel.
I will check out the website you posted and see what they have.
 My best regards.

Understandably, some would be reluctant to buy a refurbished

Has anyone purchased any of the DTV converter boxes that are
available in the United States so an analog television set
can be used with the new DTV system? So far, it seems like
they all require a television set to be connected to them.
I'm hoping there might be, at least, a few that can be used
as a stand alone television audio only receiver.

For those not aware of it, all analog television transmission
in the United States will be turned off next February. Two
forty dollar coupons can be obtained to help purchase two
analog to DTV converter boxes for those who can't or don't
want to buy a new television set.

The original upper television channels were auctioned off to
telecommunication and other companies for something in the
order of eighteen billion dollars. Wonder if other countries
are doing something similar to this?

 Thanks,

 Tom

2008-05-01 Thread Marsha
Hi
Perhaps someone can explain this to me in very simple terms. Since
satellite signals are digital. Since The satellite receiver receives the
digital signal and turns it into analog signals which can be used by the
analog television. Why do you need a converter for the analog televisions
when the switch is made from analog to digital signals. Thank you for your
help.

Re: Winmx scripts.

2004-09-20 Thread Marsha Macchi
Hi, Marsha here. I don't post very much but I would like to know if there
are scripts for the more efficient operation of Winmx? If there are, where
can I get them? When I get them, can someone give me step by step on how to
download, install and put them in the right folder for JFW to make use of
them. I am new at this file sharing thing and would like to know more about
it. I have Windows XP home, JFW 5.0 and Winmx 3.39 or thereabouts. Can't
remember the version number offhand.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Michael, Are all Iriver players equally accessible? If not, would you
please give us a capsule synopsis of the differences? Thanks.

Re: Winmx scripts.

2004-09-20 Thread Marsha Macchi
I sure do need some tutorials on how to use the program. There are many
things about this thing I don't understand, least of all, those weird
numbers and such. If you could give me a good tutorial on how to use the
program, I would appreciate it very much.

Thank you in advance for your help.

How to work Winmx.

2004-08-01 Thread Marsha Macchi
I have Winmx loaded on my laptop and don't know how to work with it. I went to the
search and entered the name of an artist. I got the results and chose any connection.
How do I know if a download is complete? Are there scripts for Winmx? If so, where
can they be found? I have JFW 5.0 and if anyone has scripts for that JFW version, I
would appreciate knowing how to download, install and put them in the proper folders.
As you can see, I am a novice when it comes to this program.

Re: What is XML??

2004-06-26 Thread Marsha Macchi
In accordance with good etiquette, I am changing the subject line to reflect
my question. As a bookshare user, one of the file extensions is xml when I
use the Daisy format to read books. When I clicked on that file type, lo
and behold, I could read it with my screen reader. Is an xml file a variant
of HTML or something like that? If it is, can book courier use it for
reading that file? Just was wanting to know.

 Hi.
Cards and external devices that work in all parts of the world are
 available from hhauppauge
 http://www.hauppauge.com
 ATI
 http://www.ati.com
 and Aver
 http://www.avermedia.com
among others. I've used both Hauppauge and ATI cards, and find the
Hauppauge software quite accessible, with the ATI software, though not as
accessible as Hauppauge's product, still quite usable.

 Hi rob

I doubt the card will work in the US, although perhaps it might in
conjunction with a sattelite receiver but I'm not sure. The UK price is
65
 British Pounds.

No, this site isn't perfect; however, the price is right. If you
