There use to be plug ins you could use. Google is your friend but again
be carefull. I should think VLC can play ogg though. Don't really
remember. Haven't messed with Ogg Vorbus since the 1 time I geeked out
on it because the PTR2 played it.

Converting .OGG files to .MP3 files?

2011-09-23 Thread Lisa D. Porter

Hi everyone,
I'm the quiet one that rarely has audio questions, but I have one now.
As the subject says, can you do this type of conversion? If so, what do
you have to use to do it?

Thanks.

folder and run it. just google it since I don't have the link here.

Trouble with ogg files

Since I loaded the newest wimanp, I can't seem to play my ogg files. Winamp

On another note, I tried to play a DVD on this new PC and was told that I
don't have a DVD encoder. This doesn't automatically come as a part of WMP
version 9 or 10?

Thanks much guys.

Hi Alex,

A few years ago I had this problem. The way I got Winamp to play OGG
files was to completely uninstall Winamp, then I manually removed any
left over files in the folder C:\program files\Winamp and then I
installed Winamp again and this fixed the problem. So you might try

it sounds like you installed the lite version of winamp.
you have 2 options,
1 install the full version
or
2 reinstall the lite version but be sure to add the ogg support, found under
audio plugins.

Hi, I have some good directions for converting ogg and other files with
winamp.
  Some directions are pasted below.

Converting audio files using winamp

DATE:

1. Open up Winamp from the programs menu or the desktop.

2. now find the file that you want to convert and open it up in

Winamp, either by pressing enter on it or through the open file dialogue.

3. Press the letter v to stop the file from playing.

4. now Go to the preferences, by pressing control plus p of course.

5. go to the plugins section and then choose output in the tree view.

6. Tab over to the list of plugins, and focus on the one called

the Nullsoft Discwriter plugin, your version number may vary but it

all comes to the same.

7. You need to do some configuring for telling Winamp what file type to
use
when converting. By this I mean if you want to convert to mp3 etc.

so tab to the configure button.

8. Fhere is a dialogue box with some buttons in it. the

first one will determine where your output file, that is to say your

converted file will be saved. you may hear something like, output file

location c:\doccuments and settings...my music button.

If you press that button, a dialogue will pop up and you can then

determine where your file will be saved.

9. now that you've chosen where to save the converted file, you will be
back
in the dialogue,

10. Tab again and you reach a checkbox that says, output to directory

containing source files, and by default, this is unchecked. This is

so that you can have your converted file in exactly the same folder

as the original file was.

so check that if you want the file to go there, i would do that for

simplicities sake. You can always move it later.

11. Tab and the Next checkbox you'll see says, display save as dialogue
for
every

file. This is so that if you're converting an entire list of files,

you'll be able to determine where each file goes. I would imagine

that you would probably want them all to go in the same folder, but

maybe not? so check that if you like, i normally leave it as is

because usually I'm only converting one file. This is unchecked by
default.

12. Tab again and you find a combo box that determines if there are

numbers at the beginning of your outputted file name.

the choices you have are, disabled, 1 digit, 2 digits, 3 digits and

4 digits.

I can't imagine why anyone would actually want 4 digits, that is

For example, this would convert the file and put a name starting with 01.

If you are converting a very large number of files, more digits may be
needed. I've nevered more than 25 at a time just to make sure everythings
goes the way I want.

ten

but if you want to disable this, you can.

13. Tab again and there is a combo box that determines the title format,
the

one by default is % title %. this means you get the percent % which equals

the first 2 numbers like I mentioned before, artist name, title and

then the track name. so i would keep that as is.

14. Tabbing again will land you on output file type, and the choice is set
to auto

recommended. this is so you can choose different file formats.

15. Next down the line is a checkbox that says enable single mode. Leave
this unchecked.

16 Tab again and this checkbox will determine wether or not Winamp

actually remembers what file you convert to a lot, so if you convert

to mp3 a lot, leave this checkbox checked so you can just perform the

final few steps.

17. Tab once again and you'll land on a button that determines what

file you can actually convert your file to. for mine in particular,

this button says,

MPEG layer 3 192KBPS, 44.1 K Hertz, stereo

that's usually what i convert to, but if you want something

different, you can press this button and you can change the file

type, bitrate and sampling rate of your file. Note that if you don't

have the radium codec installed, you won't be able to convert to

anything higher than 56k, 22.50 k hertz stereo.

I believe the lame encoder will fix this too, and the lame encoder

should be very easy to find if you do a little hunting around.

18. Now you are going to do the conversion. Tab to okay and press enter.
You
are put back into the preferences.

19. Tab to close and press enter.

20.. . Press the letter x which will play your file. However, you don't
hear
any sound. This is because the plugin works very quickly.

If you want to know the status of your conversion, press the hotkey

which reads your title bar, insert t for JAWS and control shift t for

Window-eyes. You will know your file is

converted when you hear the name of your file, followed by Winamp

stopped.

have the radium codec installed, you won't be able to convert to

I believe the lame encoder will fix this too, and the lame encoder

converting ogg files

2008-08-07 Thread Dan Thompson

7. You need to do some configuring for telling Winamp what file type to use
when converting.

9. now that you've chosen where to save the converted file, you will be back
in the dialogue,

10. Tab again and you reach a checkbox that says, output to directory

containing source files, and by default, this is unchecked. This is

so that you can have your converted file in exactly the same folder

as the original file was.

so check that if you want the file to go there, i would do that for

simplicities sake. You can always move it later.

11. Tab and the Next checkbox you'll see says, display save as dialogue for
every

file. This is so that if you're converting an entire list of files,

you'll be able to determine where each file goes. I would imagine

that you would probably want them all to go in the same folder, but

maybe not? so check that if you like, i normally leave it as is

because usually I'm only converting one file. This is unchecked by default.

13. Tab again and there is a combo box that determines the title format, the

one by default is % title %. this means you get the percent % which equals

the first 2 numbers like I mentioned before, artist name, title and

then the track name. so i would keep that as is.

However, you don't hear

which reads your title bar, insert t for JAWS and control shift t for

converted when you hear the name of your file, followed by Winamp

stopped.

While the file conversion happens, you may notice

that software speech is slower to respond, and sometimes it just

doesn't respond at all. But just remember, this plugin works pretty quick.

21. If you followed all the steps above, congratulations, you just

converted your first file with Winamp. Subsequent conversions won't be such
a long process, especially if

 Hi list,

I recently found a program which converted .mid files into .mp3, .wav,
 and
some other file extensions. The problem was, it was free, however...it
would only record for 1 minute, and i couldn't convert .ogg file
 extensions.

I am wondering is there a free program that will allow me to convert .mid
and .ogg files for the total length of the track?

 thank you

Re: Changing bitrate on ogg files in Goldwave.

2005-04-06 Thread Doc
If you would like to make a more perminant change do the following
alt+o to open the options menu then arrow down to file formats
ctrl+shift+tab to default save format
Your first tab allows you to choose the format type
the next tab allows you to set the attribute
(if you are using jaws route your jaws cursor then immediately route your pc
cursor. you can now arrow up or down to the attribute you wish. when you
have found it route the pc cursor again)
The next is a check box which if checked then your save as, save selection
as and copy to will use the format you just set. Next press ok

If wanting to make a temporary change:
Go into the save mode as you normally do
alt+t to enter 'save as type'
arrow to the format you wish
alt+a to enter attributes
as mentioned above concerning this section the same can be done here.

Here's a program that burns ogg to CDA. It is fairly accessible. When
ready to burn you have to turn on (all graphics) and click the graphic

Here's a program that burns ogg to CDA. It is fairly accessible. When
ready to burn you have to turn on (all graphics) and click the graphic
button labeled '385'. Otherwise it works pretty well.

There is a program called Musicutter available from
http://musicutter.szm.sk that will allow you to join Ogg files. I
haven't tried it so I don't know how accessible it is.
