i don't know where to find mod files but i think both winamp, vlc and 
foobar2000 can play these files.

winamp can play .mod files
as far as sites to play them there are tons out there.

I do have some that I could share via sendspace or dropbox, but I would also 
be interested if you find any good collections of these files, as I lost 
over 4000 of them in a hd failure.

winamp will play them.
