I don't know about the Book Port 2, but the PlexTalk Pocket has no 
timer to start recording. However, it does have a recording setting 
that keeps recording in "pause" until sound is "heard." So, if you 
have a way to set the TV to come on a particular channel at a 
particular time then the Pocket will start recording at that time 
with this setting.

Does the Bookport plus contain any kind of a timer facility which would permit 
the user to commence recording at a predetermined time?  For example, if I want 
to record the audio from a TV show in the middle of the night, can I program 
the Bookport plus to do this?

Tim the PTR2 and Bookport Plus are totally different hardware.

The Bookport Plus is the same hardware as the Plextalk Pocket, also known as
