Re: CDex and setting bit rate

2004-11-12 Thread Kevin Lloyd
Hi Tracey.

Yes, it is possible to change the bit rate for CDEX as well as selecting
which encoder you wish to use and other variables for that encoder.

To change the bit rate, when in CDEX, press function key F4 to open the
settings menu. Now, you should be on the encoder tab but if not locate that
tab from this multi-tab dialogue. Just tab 2 or 3 times and you'll come
across the bit rate combo box. You can use your arrow keys to move up and
down the values available for the encoder that you've chosen. The lame
encoder is the encoder by default and the default bit rate is 128kbps. You
can take this right up to 320kbps if you wish for this encoder though others
such as the WMA encoder I think will only go up to 160kbps.

Hi. Is it possible to set a bit rate when ripping tracks to MP3 using
CDex,
and if so, how is this done? I've looked at all the settings I can find,
but
am new to the program so may have missed something obvious. Tracey.

Hi Tracy. In CDex, go to f4 for configuration. I think you can find it
from there.

Hi Gary, thanks for this. Can you tell me where to find the bit rate
setting, or where I can change it within CDex? Thanks. Tracey.

Hi Tracy. Yes, you can set the bit rate with CDex. You can even use
VBR,
which is variable bit rate. You can use ABR which finds an average bit
rate. It seems like to me that CDex encourages you to use that setting.
