Re: Coppiing music from my brother's IPod?
Hello carliss ,Assuming that you already have an itunes account established on your computer, Try this. Hold down the Shift key while you open iTunes. In the dialog that appears, click Create Library. Name and save the alternate library file. iTunes opens with your new library file. Open iTunes Preferences. Click the Advanced tab. Deselect the Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library checkbox if it is already selected and click OK. This will prevent iTunes from creating duplicates of your existing media files in the new library folder. Add the specific media files you want on your device to iTunes choosing File Add File to Library or Add Folder to Library After you organize the iTunes library, connect and sync your device. After the sync is complete, quit iTunes. Hope this helps. Also, before you plug it in, make sure iTunes is set not to automatically sync. I think doing that would erase the music, unless you imported it to Itunes first, or it would complain that the ipod is synced to another computer's library, so be careful. Re: Coppiing music from my brother's IPod?
I don't think you can get the music off of his iPod by connecting it to your computer. iTunes will complain that the iPod is synced to another library. Your best bet, if you have access to a portable hard drive, would be to connect it to his computer and copy the music from the iTunes Media folder. There might also be music elsewhere on his computer that was imported into iTunes that you would need to copy. Then you could connect the drive to your computer and copy the music to your hard drive.
