I'm wondering, does a better sound card improve the quality of a recording?

Besides the benefits of audio output quality, how else can I benefit from
purchasing one of these high end sound cards?

Thanks,

 Hi Folks:

I have installed a Delta 1010 LT on my computer which already has a Delta
 66 soundcard.  Both cards are functional as far as Windows is concerned;
however, the DeltaPannel software only recognizes the 1010 card. Is there
something that I need to configure in order to be able to use the
DeltaPanel software to manage both cards?

 Thanks gang.

If sound quality output is not a major concern to you, there would be no
reason for purchasing a high end card.

Some of these cards have hardware MIDI ports which could proove to be very

On the other hand, I don't think these cards have anything to do with actual

Re: Delta soundcard problem.

2007-09-14 Thread DJ DOCTOR P
Hello list members,
I've been wanting to upgrade to a better sounding sound card too.
I read some stuff on the net about a mother board that uses vacuum tubes to
transmit the audio signal to your computer speakers.
From what it says, I guess it's using these little 12AX7 tubes.
The only questions I have about this is, how does this really work?
Tubes are power demanding, and most computers as far as desktops go, they
are running 200 to 400 watt power supplies.
And how good do these vacuum tube based mother boards really sound?
If it will give me a better sound, I'd like to know that.
If it won't give me a better sound then what I'm already getting from what
I'm using right now, I'd like to know that too.
Last time I checked, these boards were going for $250 each for a hole unit.
If it doesn't deliver what it claims, then maybe I'd better not spend the
money.
Thinks in advance!
  John Price.

High end sound cards have less of a noise floor than the sound blaster
live which is about minus 60 DB when the better cards are usually around
minus 90 or so. Also the better cards have better shielding from noise
generated electronically by hard drives and aren't as affected by unbalanced
grounds as the sound blaster live. I know, I have and still use a sound
blaster live.

Just a couple of things to note here:

1. I chose the Delta card because I'm the JAWS script writer for the Delta
Panel software and I know that I can achieve total accessibility to the

work for me.

2. I'm not sure if you are interested in the Delta 1010 or the less
expensive version called Delta 1010 LT.

In any case, complete information on both cards can be found at:

Hello: I am using JAWS however, as the creator of the DeltaPannel JFW
scripts, I can tell you that that is not the problem. Actually, the
software itself performs as if everything was fine. It's just that the
software commands have no affect on the soundcard itself.

The thing may have bit the dust.

 HiGang:

For some reason, I am unable to adjust the volume, balance, or mute
 options
of my Delta 66 using the DeltaPannel software.

I can, however, affect some changes using the standard windows XP Volume
 ap.

The main problem is that I am unable to rout hardware inputs to hardware
 outputs.

I am only able to use WaveOut. I did uninstall and re-install the
 DeltaPanel software.

For the Record: I am using a Duel 2 core processor and Media Center.

Any help would be appreciated all over the place.

 Thanks gang.

Delta soundcard problem.

2007-08-28 Thread Jim Noseworthy
HiGang:

For some reason, I am unable to adjust the volume, balance, or mute options
of my Delta 66 using the DeltaPannel software.

I can, however, affect some changes using the standard windows XP Volume ap.
