And soon, I was greeted with the soft phone's screen showing me my fine new phone number. So I plugged in a telephone to the other end of the Magic Jack. I got a dial tone, but at first, I couldn't get the phone's buttons to operate... That is, when I pushed the buttons, there was no accompanying tone pulse, so there was no dialing from the telephone. Check the faq's on http://www.magicjack.com I didn't see any list of area codes until I activated mine and was registering, so I really don't know. Re: Magic Jack... Yes!!!
Hi, I have been trying to work with MJ and had some problems so removed it and finally got my system back up and working ok. But now...you mention this: I found my jfw.ini file and added the line to lock Jaws into using the built-in soundcard on my motherboard. I plugged the lowly piece of hardware into my USB port... And waited with bated breath. XP was a little confused at first, and asked me if I wanted to use this device to copy pictures from a camera to my hard drive... But meanwhile, the onboard software installed itself, downloaded updates and took me to the registration screen. Why did you have tomake a change in jaws? What type of software does it download, where are the files and what are they named? Does MJ interfere with anything else? Could you explain in detail on exactly how to do this? Do you mean that jaws no longer works with the elequence program or waht? I would much appriciate any help. RE: Magic Jack... Yes!!!
You change your jfw.ini file because the Magic Jack is an audio device. Any time you introduce a new audio device, there's the possibility-likelihood that Jaws will become inappropriately enamored of that new device and start trying to speak through it instead of the sound card you normally use. There's a step-by-step article on the Freedom Scientific site which you can find by searching on a telling string like say Two sound cards That will show you how to find the system-recognized name of your preferred audio device and then how to modify your jfw.ini file so that Jaws will always use only that card. The direct url is http://www.freedomscientific.com/fs_support/BulletinView.cfm?QC=432 You can ignore the part about downloading the eloq.dll file since that was for jaws 5.
