Re: Cingular and the Talks software
Hello Rick, It is wonderful. It works like this: Cingular will tell you that the Nokia 6620 is the only phone that can accommodate the Talks software. But that is not true. the 6620 is expensive; $300. But the software is free. You need to purchase the software from them up front and they will reimburse you after you send back their rebate statement saying you are blind. The $199 is credited to your account. Now as far as the software is concerned, it is wonderful. It uses Eloquence. All menus are accessible. It will even tell you how many items are in a list. You can adjust the volume, pitch, speed and punctuation through the Talks menu and submenu. I am very happy with it. If you need any more info, contact me at [EMAIL PROTECTED] Leslie E. I'm looking for opinions on things like how blind user friendly is this cell phone and is Cingular being cooperative when it comes to rebating the cost of the software? Also if anyone knows of other cell phone carriers that are providing accessible phones I'd be interested in hearing about that too. Discussion of cell phones is off topic for this list. You'll find much more info on this subject either from the blindtech list: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Or from the Blind Phones list: [EMAIL PROTECTED] One Question I have about this phone which is on topic: How well does the mp3 player work? Is it possible to fast forward and rewind through mp3 files? Can one bookmark their place in an mp3 file and resume listening at that point later?
