will call graph work with virtual audio cable as mp3 skype recorder does. We sometimes play a track during a call and MSR will continue recording the call where telecorder will follow the original microphone thus when the microphone in skype is changed it is no longer recording the call it is recording whatever the original mike is picking up. When the Hijack mode from Record To Skype is enabled a Skype call will be recorded whenever Audio Hijack Pro detects any audio activity from Skype. Further to this Audio Hijack Pro is fully compatible with Apple Automator Scripts and workflows therefore offering further enhancement and automation of the Skype recording process, you could for example have a Skype call recorded an automatically put into an iTunes playlist, have the call logged or archived etc, its all down to your imagination. You select software recording moad under recording settings, then hit the advanced button next to it, then you check the first checkbox in there and hit ok and you good to go. Just set your levels and your done. Then once the call start you can hit the gloabap recording hotkey to start and stop. On 26/02/2014, Ray T. Re: accessible skype call recording software
Hi all, You are right Dane. A few months ago Microsoft announced that it will retire the desktop API, which means practically that all programs that use API to communicate with skype will stop working as of the end of 2013. Some examples of those programs that use API are skypeTalking, mp3 skype recorder and call graph. However, Microsoft decided later on that it will continue supporting the desktop API until they find another alternative. For more detailed and precise information, visit this page: http://blogs.skype.com/2013/11/06/feature-evolution-and-support-for-the-skype-desktop-api/ So to samirize, Mp3 skype recorder is still functioning well with skype as of today until microsoft finds another alternative for call recording. Re: accessible skype call recording software
I have Total recorder and I used it for one complete year to record skype calls before I started using mp3 skype recorder. It records in a better quality but the only problem is that you need to start recording manually, so if you forget, the call will not be recorded. Another problem I encountered using it is the latency. If i record a call that is longer than 2 hours, it starts generating some really bad latency as you here both parties speak simultaneously. The good thing is that there are different options and each person can pick up what suits him/her. Happy skyping and happy recording, whatever your choice is!! :) Hamid AITOUZNAG We never value what we have until we lose it! total recorder would record just any sound that your computer generates. The only problem is that you need to start/stop recording manually. Mp3 recorder and Callgraph will record automatically the moment it detects that there is an active skype call. Hamid AITOUZNAG We never value what we have until we lose it! Re: accessible skype call recording software
Hi! On the same subject but a slightly different tac. In one of my podcasts I used Audio Hijack Pro to record a Skype call, actually its Skype at my end, I have an Unlimited World Skype subscription which allows me to call any PSTN line - phone line - in the world and I also have some SSkype phone numbers in various countries - see signature at the bottom of my eMail - so it was child's play to conduct the interview for the Podcast. I've made this available so people can get an idea of how Skype can sound, I didn't need to do any level matching, skype does that already though you will notice that I'm using the microphone of the Plantronics Audio 478 headset, not a professional microphone by any manner of means but convenient for the time and good enough for the purpose. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/10565527/Sangean%20ATS909x%20Demo%20-%203%20.mp3 If link doesn't work the first time then try again in a few minutes, file may still be uploading to Dropbox. Re: accessible skype call recording software
Hi! I'm sending this in a separate reply to the original eMail on this subject, in my original reply I sent a link to the tutorial which describes how Total Recorder can be set up to record Skype and other Internet/VOIP Telephony. In this eMail I'd like to refer to another way of recording Skype calls, if you have a Mac you can use Audio Hijack Pro, all you need do is run the App and select the Record From Skype template and tweak to your requirements. Automator Scripts and workflows are easily put together through the Apple Automator Application which forms part of OSX Mavericks and earlier OSX Operating Systems.
