you want to do an alt-v for view menu in windows explorer, then sort by,
then name, then there should be a group by pulldown menu and you can
have it go ascending or descending. should solve your problem. hth

Hi. It sounds like this is a windows folder options as opposed to goldwave
itself. When you go to a folder of files with this problem, and before u use

any arrow keys to look at the file list, hit your aplication key and a
context menu will pop up. There should be a sort by or arrange icons
submenu. Look in this submenu and see what is checked. Sometimes just going
to the name option and hitting enter will correct this.
Let me know how that goes!

Hello everyone, I am using Goldwave 5.58. In some folders, in the open
dialog, it displays the items backwards, so the file which has the last
letter in the alphabet is at the top. How can I get it to stop doing this?
It only does this with certain folders. Thank you.

2011-10-27 Thread Christopher Chaltain
I'm not sure what OS or screen reader is being used in this case, but
clicking on the header for the name column in Windows Explorer (or
probably most any application) should also take care of this. I would do
this with JAWS in Windows XP if I wanted a Z to A sort instead of an A
to Z sort. Clicking on the name header will toggle this back and forth.

Sorry! [was "Re: Descriptive Video on Commercial DVDs and Downloads"]

2009-03-07 Thread Christopher Chaltain
Oops, sorry! I meant to send that privately. I guess I forgot to change
the address. I beg forgiveness from the list and the moderator.

Christopher Chaltain wrote:
Do you feel this way about all advocacy groups or just the NFB?
Joining a mailing list isn't the same as joining an advocacy group,
helping to set it's agenda and then working to implement that agenda.
I don't always agree with the positions of the NFB or ACB, but I
respect them as organizations and it's members who are willing to come
together and work for the benefit of the blind. IMHO, if you don't
like the positions of the NFB, ACB or some other group then you should
join that group and help determine it's positions. It isn't like the
NFB or ACB aren't made up of blind people and the positions they come
up with aren't held by some blind people.

I'm also a little confused about the opinions of some on the list. If
I recall the history of this issue, there were no laws requiring
described video when WGBH, the Department of Education and others were
producing described video. The NFB didn't do anything to prevent any
of this, they only opposed the passage of a law requiring it. I don't
see how anything now is any different than what it was before this law
was defeated.

BTW, I don't think the NFB should as been as vocal as it was opposing
this law, but I agree with the NFB that this should not be mandated
via a law. Every time a law is passed mandating accessibility, there's
a price to pay in things like public acceptance. For this and other
reasons, passing such a law should not be done lightly.

I've listened to quite a few movies with described video lately,
mostly via the Blind Mice Movie Vault, and I find that movies I tended
to enjoy when I watched them without described video are the same
movies I tend to enjoy with described video. Movies I couldn't sit
through when they weren't described, such as 2001 A Space odyssey, I
still can't watch with described video. Listening to someone describe
all of the interesting things that happen when you're in a weightless
environment is only nominally more interesting than long passages of
silence. I've also seen a big difference in the quality of described
video, and I wonder how good the described video would be if it were
mandated.

Kelly Pierce wrote:

if you want audio described movies and television programs in the
United States, I encourage you to contact your member of Congress to

Gee, I didn't think I would create such a partisan firestorm by
throwing out
the descriptive video questions. But it is a fascinating
discussion
that has taken turns I did not expect. I am an NFB member, but do
not look

at issues with a viewpoint that's as partisan as the Boomer Generation
Federationists.

I don't spend a lot of time with video content at this point in my
life, but
have run into descriptive video in the past and simply presumed it
would
have become more prevalent in the last 5-10 years. It seems that
the trend

toward video description actually has reversed itself, at least in the
United States.

So Bruce, are you suggesting that if one finds a DVD series like your
Canadian sitcom that's commercially available, use DVD Audio
Extractor as a
means of listening to the whole content of the DVD? Or does this
program
simply convert the DVD into a format that some other player such as
Windows

Media Player or Winamp can process?

Hi:

If converting in to MP3 is done properly, you should have no problem with
sound quality.

Cheers.

Audiobooks (sorry if off topic)

2008-07-14 Thread Samuel Wilkins
Hello folks, I've been having a problem with two audiobooks, Doctor Who Tales
from the Tardis
volumes 1 and 2 . My Dad bought and downloaded these on his computer for me,
but
now because of the DRM protection I can't play them on my computer. Converting
them into MP3s doesn't give a good sound. I was wondering if anyone has a CD
copy
of these audiobooks . If you're not willing to sell them at the moment could
you

Sorry everyone for the blank messages, found the cause but won't go into it
here as this list is the wrong place for that sort of thing so I'll try and
recap what I mentioned in the messages which had the problem.
Firstly! regarding Peters question aboutthe Panasonic RXED50, its perfectly
accessible (I would have made mention of it had I thought the product wasn't
user-friendly )
Regarding Winamp and slow ripping, the reason for the slow-down is that Winamp
has the encoder kick in after every track has been ripped and (to my knowledge)
their is no way of controlling Winamps behavior on this and its quite annoying.
That's one of the reasons why I really Like EAC because its so flexible
in the
way it interacts with the encoder.

EAC works on a cue system (or can work on a cue system were every track to be
encoded is added to a cue). You can set EAC so that the encoder works whilst
EAC is ripping from CD (encodes in the background) or you can put the cue to
sleep and wake it up to encode what you've ripped when the computer is idel
etc. Easy CD Da Extracto will encode "ON THE FLY" but the ripping speedh slows
down for some reason, no need for that on todays modern-day machines.
Other rippers which can access Gracenote CDDB? Well i think their was a company
called Shampoo Software or something which marketed a product called CD MP3
Studio, I think I have the names right, we're going back a bit in time here.
As far as I know, Easy CD Creator cannot access Gracenote CDDB but I could be
wrong.
Cheers

Sorry everyone for the blank messages, found the cause but won't go into it
here as this list is the wrong place for that sort of thing so I'll try and
recap what I mentioned in the messages which had the problem.
Firstly! regarding Peters question aboutthe Panasonic RXED50, its perfectly
accessible (I would have made mention of it had I thought the product wasn't
user-friendly )
Regarding Winamp and slow ripping, the reason for the slow-down is that Winamp
has the encoder kick in after every track has been ripped and (to my
knowledge)
their is no way of controlling Winamps behavior on this and its quite
annoying.
That's one of the reasons why I really Like EAC because its so flexible
in the
way it interacts with the encoder.

EAC works on a cue system (or can work on a cue system were every track to be
encoded is added to a cue). You can set EAC so that the encoder works whilst
EAC is ripping from CD (encodes in the background) or you can put the cue to
sleep and wake it up to encode what you've ripped when the computer is idel
etc. Easy CD Da Extracto will encode "ON THE FLY" but the ripping speedh
slows
down for some reason, no need for that on todays modern-day machines.

Other rippers which can access Gracenote CDDB? Well i think their was a
company
called Shampoo Software or something which marketed a product called CD MP3
Studio, I think I have the names right, we're going back a bit in time here.

As far as I know, Easy CD Creator cannot access Gracenote CDDB but I could be
wrong.
Cheers

Sorry, folks. I forgot to change the subject line of my previous post. it
is about the USB FM Transmitter, not about Easy CD Extractor.
