Read the review I posted.
I beleive that people in the USA can order this model, I seem to recall a
message on this list regarding this topic some time ago when boom-box units
were put under the microscope.

Well not the technology part so much but the design and accessability part.
For example (just referring back to the Panasonic RXED50 for a moment), I'm yet
to see a protable that gives any sound like this machine and I've had all sorts
including Sony. Once Upon A Long Ago, you could buy Sony equipment and know
you were getting a quality product and something that was "GOOD" but now? Well,
I even heard a tech chap on the radio say that Sony now would have to lift
their game if they wanted to keep selling (I.e. not produce so much crap).
Another thing which surprised me about the RXED50 was the fact the the cassette
decks were well designed and played/recorded well, that's a dying art in a
portable these days, (can anyone tell me any other brands of portable CD Radio
cassette unit which offer a record deck that takes multiple tape types, ahs an
AC erase etc?) I'm sure their may be a few modern-day portables around that can
boast this but I won't hold my breath for an answer in the near future.
Finally, it appears that firms like Sony (and many others) are taking shortcuts
wherever possible with allot of stuff that they're selling. Yeah! Panasonic
have taken shorcuts (I mean this portable could do more like record on Metal
type IV cassettes, what about a line-out jacke etc) but these are shortcuts
cutting out features rahter than shortcuts cutting down on quality.
