any soundfont users out there?

2009-10-24 Thread Brett Boyer
Hey if any of you use soundfonts and soundfont banks. I need some help trying
to make my own banks. If anyone knows about this please contact me off list so
I don't get in trouble with Tom. I don't want to subscribe to a midi list I
just have some questions.
thanks

Bret, wouldn't have thought Tom would rule this off-topic on an audio list.

So, save me a search and tell me what sound fonts are please.

Well, basically a soundfont is a wave sample used to play midi. So you can
actually have realistic sounding instruments without buying an expensive
keyboard. There very fun to play with. You can create your own sounds for
example. There are literally thousands of these soundfonts available on the
internet and I'm trying to create a midi bank with the best sound possible.

Hope that makes sense.

I'm sorry I really don't. There are lots of sites dedicated to soundfonts
and midi. Lots of free ones and some that will try to charge you. I believe
there is a podcast on soundfonts on blind cooltech. Good luck and sorry I
don't have a good site for you right now.
