audio source to mp3 output

2014-11-08 Thread Joe Giovanelli
Hello Listers,

I don't believe I've seen this covered. I have quite a few minidisks and wish
to copy them as MP 3 files. A number of devices can be used to do this, such as
the Victor Reader, second generation.

This is fine, but I'd like to take this a step further. My disks have perhaps
12 radio shows on them. My hope is to play such a disk through and have files
created by way of silence between tracks.

I'd sincerely appreciate your thoughts. Thank you very much.

I think some of the Olympus models might be able to help you there if you’re
thinking of doing the job in an automated way but then again the question comes
up, is it really worth spending a couple of hundred dollars just for that when
you could say connect your Minidisc to a computer’s line in and use the Total
Recorder software package which looks for silent passages and can perform
custom options, even the Professional Audio edition is only $35.

Of course using Total Recorder also means you have more flexibility in how MP3
files - if you want to use that format - are created, you have a very
reasonable editor included if you purchase the Professional version etc, take a
look at the web page at http://totalrecorder.com
