Okay, take a look at http://www.radioparts.com.au as they have a
Marantz Cassette Deck listed up there which you can check out, perhaps
you could get that particular model locally.

I just did a search for "cassette" on

There are some nice decks under a hundred dollars and others
  even less expensive.

I usually get items I order from them the next day in

computer business nextdoor to me and who is an avid audiophile and

Re: Cassette deck for Digitizing Audio

2007-08-29 Thread DJ DOCTOR P
High Kane.
Thinks for the corection man, I really needed that to stay on the right
track.
What those turntables actually have, are 1-8th ench jacks for hooking a hi
fi cassette deck up to them.
But however, I read something on the net while ago about a cassette deck
that goes right in the case of your pc.
>From what I understand, the unit is about the same sise of your CD/DVD
drive.
The website didn't say, but I am wondering if you have to have special
drivers installed on your pc to get it to work?
But what the site did tell me, is what kinds of things you can do with it.
It says that you can convert your old music cassettes to MP3 or any type of
audio file.
It also gives you the option of making recordings of live internet audio
streems.
And I mite add, it flips the tape over for you itself.
I've never seen one of these, but I think it would be neat to have one.

Just a correction. The firm you were trying to refer to, DJ, actually

follows: http://www.floridamusicco.com/proddetail~prod~numark_ttusb.htm
I'm not sure whether Numark offers a stand-alone cassette deck like
this; but I get the impression the turntable has some kind of built-in

unless I had no alternative source for a turntable.

To my knowledge, TASCAM, were still making machines that would do what you
want, I can't check up on that here though as the TASCAM site is (at the
best of times) difficult to get around.

I'm quite sure that 4 track cassette machines will be with us for a while,
(for the musician who is starting out they're a good, reliable and cheap
way to get the music recorded).
