If all you want to do is backup copy a dvd then all you need in most
cases is DVD Shrink and a burning program like Nero. If you have Nero
then DVD Shrink will interface with Nero seemlessly. DVD Shrink is found
on doom9.org or by searching for it via google.

Re: nero and copying dvds disk-to-disk or .iso imaging

2006-01-04 Thread Geoff Eden
I just borrowed Cinderella Man, and DVD shrink did not know how to release the
protection. I picked up DVD Clone which has a 14 day demo. I could not figure
out how to shrink the file to fid a single layer DVD, so I saved it as a pair
of ISO files. Hope I can figure out how to put them back on a DVD, as the
movie has a described track.

Hello Tyler. I know you have received some answers but I'll chime in
here in case I can add to any of the information given. As mentioned you
can easily use DVD Shrink to read the dvds as well as decrypt them which
is a must for making back up copies. Due to the encryption and the size
of most dvds you cannot simply use dvd-copy in Nero to copy a dvd movie.
By using DVD Shrink you can remove the encryption and you can shrink it
down however some newer dvd movies like Stealth starring Jessica Beel
and Jamie Fox will not decrypt even with DVD Shrink. Unless they update
DVD Shrink what you may have to do is purchase any-dvd which is a driver
running in the background. I believe that sells for $30 or $40. With
this running any dvd placed in your system will be decrypted so DVD
Shrink can read it and you can do your backup.

I don't remember off hand which site sells Any-DVD but you can get it
from the list archives or do a google search for it.

Good luck.

 Hi all,

This is not specificly PC-audio related, but in nero 6.0, how does one copy a
dvd from disk to disk, or make it into an .iso file? (what two options are
these?) I couldn't find it in the help file, and I'm guessing I didn't look
in the right place. What program would I use (nero start smart, nero vision,
 nero express, etc etc)?

 thanks,

Hi Tyler,

Sure is, I have it myself though I've never used it yet. You can get it from
the following site, http://www.doom9.org/index.html there are additional
toolds that work in conjunction with DVD shrink and you can grab them from
the same site. Hope this helps.
