Yep, that's why I bought the Fastrak Mixer Protools was part of as a

Protools Studio - that's the one I have - is supposed to be perfectly
accessible with the Mac now though I've never needed to try it as Reaper

Re: pro tools

2012-01-10 Thread Steve Jacobson
If you do consider buying this box, you might want to be absolutely certain
they are really selling the
full version of Pro Tools. It is possible it is a demo or special version and
it may not be that
significant part of the price. I thought I had heard that Pro Tools works with
VoiceOver on the Apple
but that it was not very accessible in Windows. The earlier response you got
may indicate that has
changed some, but you'd still want to be sure what you are getting and whether
it is affecting the price
much.

Best regards,

Steve Jacobson

You can find out all about Reaper at http://www.reaper.fm/

I'm told that with JAWS you need a set of plug-ins to make the full Reaper
suite accessible? I can't say one way or the other as I'm not a JAWS user but
its certainly accessible here with NVDA and on the Mac with Voiceover.

You can try the programme without restriction when you download it.

I'm still learning about the Reaper software as it offers so much, I've

Hi, I was wondering if pro tools is accessible to jaws or window-eyes. I
saw on the digi design web site that they were working on the
accessibility

with voiceover and the mac, but I couldn't find anything relating to
accessibility for windows. Any help with this would be greatly
appreciated.

Thanks,

Patrick

Fw: petition to Digidesign regarding Pro Tools accessibility

2006-08-11 Thread Doc

As you probably already know, a petition to Digidesign regarding Pro Tools
accessibility has been drafted and is now ready for signatures.

At the outset, let me say that the petition calls for Digidesign to
clearly state its intentions for making Pro Tools accessible via the
VoiceOver feature of the Macintosh operating system. Now, the reason for
targeting the Mac OS is simple, straight-forward and the most efficient.
First of all, PT is, of course, the most widely used software platform for
audio production in most recording studios and educational institutions
throughout the world. Further, chances are, if you walk into a studio
running Pro Tools or an institution teaching PT, it's going to be on a
Mac. Since VoiceOver is now technically the most widely installed screen
reader, having an accessible version of Pro Tools that works with it makes
the most sense. Thus, a student can simply use the on-site computers at
school, next to other students running the same exact systems. Ultimately,
a blind user could conceivably walk up to any studio's Mac running Tiger
or the upcoming Leopard OS and use PT in the same way.

Now, ultimately, it would be great to have Pro Tools accessible on either
platform. Perhaps when Vista finally ships, it'll be an opportunity to
raise the issue. For now, however, this solution will most efficiently
provide a meaningful solution that can benefit hundreds and perhaps
thousands of users worldwide.

Please visit http://www.protoolspetition.org to join us in this effort.
There will be more information in the upcoming MIDIMag podcast. Stay tuned.

Slau
