Re: stripping audio from an avi file
Hi scott, you can go to the microsoft site and get the windows media encoder which will convert the file from avi to windows media audio (WMA) and depending on what encoder software you have convert the (WMA) files to mp3. It's a long way to do it but I don't know of any straight avi to mp3 converter software. Hope this helps. So the AVI file format embeds an MP3 file in it for the audio? Timothy wrote: I would like to get clarifification on this. GoldWave converts the .avi file into mp3. Correct? Replay Converter and Switch gets the actual audio file from the .avi file? The reason I'm asking this, is because I'd like a program to get the audio file from the video file without converting it. An example of this would be Elecard XMuxer Pro. Unfortunately, it is not accessible in my case. They're both very easy to use and totally accessible with JAWS, and I would assume any other screen reader. The first is Replay Converter at http://www.applian.com/replay-converter/index.php. It's simple to use and can take you directly from an AVI to an MP3. It is not free. The other program I use is Switch Sound File converter from http://www.nch.com.au/switch/. It comes with a full functional trial which lasts for 21 days (I think.) and then it becomes a free program with some limitations. Even with the limitations, it can still strip the audio from a AVI file and give you an MP3. Of course, you can purchase this program to keep the limitations from kicking in after the trial. I'm not sure what the current cost of either program is, but I'm sure you can get that from their web sites. I'm sure other programs will do it too. bruce On Mon, 7 Jul 2008 07:57:50 -0400, Scott Huddleson [EMAIL PROTECTED] said: could someone tell me where I could find software to make an mp3 file out of an avi file?
