can you put JAWS on a different device such as a USB headset or external card?

Which version of Windows. You need a second audio device in Windows
Vista 7 but should be able to not have the Jaws voice recorded in XP
with only one sound device. Depends on the Total Recorder driver used.

2005-03-06 Thread russell Bourgoin
Hi,
I'm not a jaws user, though I have it on my system and am familiar
enough with it to know that in the followin-eyes. When you tab to it from
another application, and then turn it of you are returned to the last
application from which you tabbed to jaws. So, what I do if I don't want
sound from the software synth to seep into my is to turn off the screen
reader, thus returning you to total recorder, if you make sure that that is
the last ap you were in. From there, you simply shift tab once to get you
to the record button, ans then press space, thus startng the recording
process. When you hear that your program is done, press space bar to stop
recording, and then reenable jaws. You should have an unflawed
recording. Hth,

i'm also needing total recorder help

2005-03-04 Thread Joanne
Does anyone know if there's a good detailed tutorial with adaptive
screenreaders in mind, dealing with total recorder and how to use its
settings? I've run into a couple things. First I guess I have to keep my
files wav files because changing format only recorded what Jaws was
saying--well it would either record what Jaws was saying, or if music
started on the stream it'd record that but then Jaws was totally
inaccessible to me and was shut off by total recorder. So trying to get it
not to record jaws is one problem.

The other is how to schedule a recording. I know you begin with the new
button but I honestly don't know where the url of the station you want to
record goes. I did hear the tutorial on main menu that Marty recommended
and it had some good basic starter suggestions but the scheduler and how to
get Jaws to find where the url field was ... that wasn't really covered so
would appreciate any help or if someone has a good file on the program
that'd be great too.

Thanks.

Re: Total Recorder help needed

2004-09-29 Thread Susan Wojtecki
Don,
If he wants to record on board sound, it may be possible to do so without
the TR driver, but I don't think this will work for any content that is
streamed. I do not have a solution for you unfortunately. I was actually
using it on a Windows 98 system for a year without problems by using the
Direct Sound plugin within Winamp, but within the last few months this has
stopped working for me and I find that my soundcard gets completely hosed up
after a TR session whether or not I am using Direct Sound or Wavout, so I
assume that there must be a missing or corrupt .dll file somewhere that I
just don't know about. I get the impression that TR works better on XP
systems, don't quite know why that would be. I'm not sure if there is
anything about JAWS that is problematic ... I use a hardware synthe rather
than eloquence so this should not be an issue.I would certainly like to find
a program for recording streams that does not install its own driver but
doubt that one exists. Hopefully someone can post a workaround or suggest
an alternative program. sorry I cannot be of more help.

Susan

Well, it sounds like Total Recorder isn't seeing any drivers. I thought
Total Recorder had to have it's driver installed, even though you don't use
it. I'm curious as to whey the Total Recorder driver didn't work, haven't
run in to that problem. I used Total Recorder on an Emachine with Crystal
audio and it worked fine.

 Hello,

Although Total Recorder 4.5 professional works fine on my XP home system
with Window Eyes 4.5 sp4, I am running into difficulty assisting a
friend running Windows millennium with JFW 3.5 U.

Since the T R driver presents no problem on my system, I initially
Installed the program with the driver on his system. When that did not
work, we uninstalled Total Recorder and reinstalled \it on his system
without the driver. In settings, I set things to Use his Crystal sound
card directly both to record and to play. But whenever he attempts to
record with Total Recorder, he continues to get this dialog box stating
that the Total Recorder driver must be installed. I know there is a
work around, but what is it.

Incidentally, his Crystal sound card is definitely multi channel. Thanks
 for ideas.

I'm still having problems configuring Total Recorder Professional Edition to
automatically split tracks. I thought I had it set up correctly, but it
saved the album as only one track, again. I must be missing something and
would appreciate hearing from anyone who might be able to help. If you'd
