[PD] Any Pd community in Sydney?

2010-07-15 Thread Adityo Pratomo
Hi there everybody,

I've just moved in to Sydney to go to college again and earn my master
degree :) Just wanna know, is there any Pd community/patching circle or
anything like that here in Sydney? I think previously there's an event in
Sydney featuring an installations built with Pd, so I'm pretty sure several
people are using it here.

Thanks and Regards,

[PD] Strange comportment with a filled and lighted cube in GEM

2010-07-15 Thread Olivier Baudu
Hello,

I've have reproduce several times on different computer, with different
graphic cards, something looks like a bug with [cube ]. (always on pd-ext
0.42.5 rc4 // Lucid )

If I open a patch with a cube without loadbanging any draw option I can
rotate it and have perfect shadows.
But if I send a [draw fill( message... something weird happens... faces are
not at the good place (or something like that)... and it's impossible to get
back the original cube anymore.

It is the same for everyone ?
I precise that there is no problem with cylinder, or sphere object... only
with cube...

I've attached minimalist patch to make tests...

pix_share only does pix_ images in RAM. You mention gemframebuffer which is
a buffer on the GPU, and there is no way to share that between processes.

Not without bringing the pixels from the GPU back to RAM first. It would
work, but not be efficient.

 Hi list,

in a Gem patch i use pix_motionblur and pix_buffer and after some time with
the pix_motionblur added i can't get rid of it any more. Setting the blur to
0 to the right inlet or switching the motionblur off by sending a 0 to the
left inlet doesn't take the blur away any more. only re-loading the videos
to the buffer makes the image unblurred again.
It seems like pix_motionblur alters the images which are stored in the
 buffer.
Sorry i can't provide a simple patch demonstrating the problem right now,
but maybe even this rudimentary description is enough to give me a clue what
the reason for this behavior could be.

yes, Gem does most of it's operations in-place, thus modifying the
incoming image rather than generating a copy. this is all for cache reasons.
if it's important for you to preserve the original image, use
[pix_separator] to force making a copy before mixing the pixes.

when i place pix_separator in between pix_buffer_read and pix_motionblur it
eats a lot of cpu, but there is no more motionblur. if i place it anywhere else
in the gem chain there is motionblur, but then it doesn't go away any more when
set to 0. i'll try to come up with a patch to demonstrate the problem.
