[PD] Pd/GEM on a tablet?

2012-08-21 Thread Iain Mott
Hi list, I'm investigating a project that requires multiple iPad-sized
screens (as many as 9), each playing an independent channel of video
(full screen) with stereo audio and each of these AV stations requiring
an attached Arduino card (controlled with Pduino abstractions). I was
thinking that tablet devices with USB might do the trick. Does anyone
have experience running Pd/GEM on a tablet? Laptops are another option
but I'd need to somehow detach the screen from the body because of
physical constraints.
Cheers,
Iain

[PD] (Tcl) Missing Close Brace error

2012-08-21 Thread Antonio Roberts
In the attached patch, whenever I open it I eventually get the below
error occur, causing Pd to freeze. The files that the patch refers to
can be found here http://dl.dropbox.com/u/350846/resources.zip

I've tried converting them to different file formats (png, jpg) but I
still get the error. I'm using Pd-extended 0.43.1-extended-20120803 on
Ubuntu 12.04

Re: [PD] beamforming, mic array and audio source localization

2012-08-21 Thread Max
i was checking what the game peripherals offer in that direction and in the
wikipedia it says about the Kinect (Windows SDK) that its „Audio processing
capabilities (…) include beam formation“ It has a microphone array built in.
The PS Eye also has 4 mics which work plug and play with Pd (contrary to the
ones in the Kinect) but the Wikipedia article only says that it “features a
built-in four-capsule microphone array, with which the PlayStation 3 can employ
technologies for multi-directional voice location tracking”

I've worked a bit with this beamforming 8 microphone setup:
 manyears.sourceforge.net/

There is support for an octagonal and a cube array.
Maybe it could be ported to Pd?

Studying microphone arrays for source localization is on my list...
once I get through everything else I started and didn't finish yet.

I was really wondering about microphone arrays arranged in a circle,
semi-circle, or around the perimeter of a room to pick up sounds
selectively by location. I think that could be used to good effect
 for performance/recording.

What are you up to now?

 Hi all,

 Gemnotes 0.2 is released.
It has dynamics (at last), hairpin crescendos, and very basic
articulation (just the accented note for now).
Also, the clocking is done seperately from the GEM framerate (thanks
 IOhannes).

 Enjoy!

[PD] installing Pd-extended on Linux (Mint 13) 64bit?

2012-08-21 Thread Jared Nielsen
I'm trying to install Pd-extended on my Linux Mint 13 64bit without luck.
I've tried the Slackware build, pd-l2ork, and a handful of other search
results, each of which leads into errors that I then can't find solutions
for. So, is there a recommended/straightforward route to installing
Pd-extended? Thanks.

Whoops!
This is fixed now (twas an underscore, not a hyphen).
There's also a new midifile converter and a polyrhythmic quantize object added
today.

2012-08-21 Thread Ivica Ico Bukvic
What are your errors for the pd-l2ork? Did you follow instructions? (e.g.
installing tkpng library?)

I ask this since we run and develop this on Ubuntu 12.04 both 32-bit and
64-bit.
