[PD] Flext compiled objects in Pd 0.43.1 (fluid~ && py/pyext)
Hello, I just compiled and tested Pd 0.43.1 since a long time using 0.42.5 and missed some objects I always used. I want to know if some people are having the same trouble than me with 2 flext compiled objects mainly - [ fluid~ ] &&[ pyext ] my system is Ubuntu Oneiric 32bits,kernel 3.0.0-20-generic-pae but I don't think it's an OS problem. I could compile the binaries .pd_linux and they are in the correct folders (/usr/lib/pd-extended/extra) but py/pyext - pyext doesn't load (even when I use -lib py in statup or [import py]) - I saw similar issues in list history but my problem is not about not loading the lib cause py loads (but AFAIK all the examples uses pyext) fluid~ - the object loads but when I load a soundfount pd crashes with a signal - watchdog: signaling pd... watchdog: signaling pd... watchdog: signaling pd... (something related to tcl/tk GUI ??) Some could say I should had separated the 2 objects issues in different threads for this mailinglist, but since I think most of pd(extended) users don't even try to compile flext objects I think this is the best subject title for now... so the question is: who already could run some of those 2 objects at Pd 0.43.1 and if maybe it's some with flext compilation problem? or whatever, some tip about one of those objects? thanx glerm ___ Pd-list@iem.at mailing list UNSUBSCRIBE and account-management -> http://lists.puredata.info/listinfo/pd-list

Hiya, Is the openpanel popup window for choosing files default behaviour to appear back from the window you are running your patch? Seems tha this don't make too much sense and the worse is that some people get stuck when the window is invisible if the patch is with window maximized. I have seem this several times... Strange that in ubuntu-gnome with compiz working the default behaviour is not that because the window is poping up in front of all patches. [PD] hackmeetings at PDCon2009 in Brasil
Hello, I don't know "how" exactly it will work, but I am shure that it works and that's the spirit. "My" project for PDCon2009 was not made to be "mine" so I am introducing the process here to the community. Since the beginning my idea was to make some kind of "hackerspace", "openspace" or "bricolab" , whatever the name, inside the Convention. A place for artisans work and share tools and concepts as in your own neighbourhood with your long time mates... AFAIK the producers of the event here could get some space for we make some kind of "deconference" to find some convergence in spontaneous ideas and similar interests discovered with factual presence, at the Monday 20t july, all day. Maybe if enough people show interest in this situation around here we could schedule more time and space for that for the rest of the week... All the schedule and space that the event would give to me I will donate to this project... I will have no authoral, performatic or scientific project for this conference besides to stimulate local community meeting global community... [PD] a little Sampler module with GUI being dragged in edit mode - howto
Hiya, I just finished a little sampler module with recording mic, volume envelope, pitch modulation and a GUI with pd-vanilla stuff + [breakpoints] (envgen modification from tof library)...It uses a moving [cnv] to implement an "alpha" graphic "timeline" of envelope (just work for 2 seconds default envelope). it uses also [iem_copy] from iem_tab to deal with a real time copies of samplers (i don't know if it is the best solution to that - suggestions welcome)... I know this kind of thing was made several times. This object was made mainly for a collaborative documentation project with Brazilian newbies around here, so I decided to make this from scratch... but I am posting here because I have a question for the veterans and want to start a thread about this discussion, to think about until we meet in PDcon09: my frustration: I can't drag this thing in "edit mode" whithout a long gap between atualization of the new position and audio huge dropouts. I know this question is not new in the history of this list, but suppose I really want to do it: make a GUI sampler object which can have several instances being droped in the canvas like any other object box... Does it happens in your machine too? Please report. It is all about graphic tables ot there's something more? Please don't tell me to not use them, this is not a solution! :) My system: r...@hdpodre:/home/glerm/artesanatodevolts# pd -version Pd version 0.41-4extended-20090427 compiled 14:09:17 Apr 27 2009 r...@hdpodre:/home/glerm/artesanatodevolts# uname -a Linux hdpodre 2.6.28-11-generic #42-Ubuntu SMP Fri Apr 17 01:57:59 UTC 2009 i686 GNU/Linux r...@hdpodre:/home/glerm/artesanatodevolts# cat /proc/cpuinfo processor: 0 vendor_id: GenuineIntel cpu family: 6 model: 9 model name: Intel(R) Celeron(R) M processor 1400MHz stepping: 5 cpu MHz: 1396.462 cache size: 512 KB fdiv_bug: no hlt_bug: no f00f_bug: no coma_bug: no fpu: yes fpu_exception: yes cpuid level: 2 wp: yes flags: fpu vme de pse tsc msr mce cx8 sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat clflush dts acpi mmx fxsr sse sse2 tm pbe up bts bogomips: 2792.92 clflush size: 64 power management: abraços glerm mimosa-sampler.pd Description: Binary data mimosa-sampler-help.pd Description: Binary data ___ Pd-list@iem.at mailing list UNSUBSCRIBE and account-management -> http://lists.puredata.info/listinfo/pd-list

Does anybody else still concerned about it? thanx a lot glerm 2008/1/3, Hans-Christoph Steiner <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>: > > > If you want the stable releases, go here: > > http://puredata.info/downloads > > If you want nightly builds, look further down that page. > > .hc > > On Jan 2, 2008, at 8:37 AM, glerm soares wrote: > > The server at.or.at/*hans*/*pd*/*installers*.html seems to be down since > yesterday. > > Does anybody has the most recent .deb pd-extended packages for > debian/ubuntu x86? > > Could send me this file through pvt email or pass me another link for > this? > > Thanks a Lot > > glerm > ___ > PD-list@iem.at mailing list > UNSUBSCRIBE and account-management -> > http://lists.puredata.info/listinfo/pd-list > > > > > > > > > kill your television > > > ___ PD-list@iem.at mailing list UNSUBSCRIBE and account-management -> http://lists.puredata.info/listinfo/pd-list

The server at.or.at/*hans*/*pd*/*installers*.html seems to be down since yesterday. Does anybody has the most recent .deb pd-extended packages for debian/ubuntu x86? Re: [PD] Why in Brasil and how? (was: next conv in Brasil... meaning business)
Hi folks. I didn't mean to be the annoying guy, "fundamentalist" or whatever. But that same old advertisement about "beach paradises" bored me and I overreacted. :P I'd like you too find another reasons to know people far from your blocks. I hope this meeting happens. But beeing truly honest - I just prefer to be the one that could help things work in the "informal world", with people meeting for happenings, hack afternoons, residences or simply to know good people and plan something intersting together. By "show business" I just meant something like events that works with idea of "names", pedestals, tables, glasses of water over it and where people don't get really in touch because of the pedestals. Sorry, I just felt unconfortable about that, and I had to express it. But I know you understand what I mean. Just bringing the problem to discuss... About linux or "fundamentalism" . Just consider that Brasil __needs__ free software - and to respect and take this seriously could really support the development of such scenarios (wich PD is included ). I'm just estimulating this idea. Sorry about the jokes, but I stand my position that I'd prefer too stimulate DYI attitudes. We really need that here. A public University in Brasil supporting expensive device and software (and estimulating spoiled fetishisms) is not intelligent. But this an old flame war. I'm tired too feed it. "Think different"... whatever.. Sarava für alles... salut... see you soon glerm ___ PD-list@iem.at mailing list UNSUBSCRIBE and account-management -> http://lists.puredata.info/listinfo/pd-list
Re: [PD] next conv in Brasil... meaning business
> the events could happen one before the other... next SBCM should be in > Recife, which is a great beach paradise... ...with sharks!... :D I appreciate the interest of brazilian academics on this situation. But I think that "brazilian PD community" still very immature as a independent group. As far as I know - We don't have real developers as in Austria, Canada and Barcelona. We have the naif curious and the academics. Most of curious are newbies and most of academics are... hidden behind papers :). I think we have to concentrate more efforts in "realworld" users. To became more envolved in development and exchange MUCH MORE knowledge. I REALLY respect all the guys that develep PD, but I don't want to suport any show business. I'd prefer to host you in __my home__ than any University (with all respect to intitutions that could support this) - for me the most intersting situation could be something very productive and envolving, much more like a "HACKLAB" than a "Simposium". And c'mon - Pd on windows? make me laugh. And Sorry the sincerity - Macintoshes are tottaly out of social Brazilian reallity. Here a macintosh notebook is __a price of a car__. Just think about the meaning of this fetish here. Support free Software, please! Brazil is the linux child - take care of this. learn portuguese and meet people. brazil is not a postcard. Is that what you mean? So maybe It's a cnv object limitation, maybe It's a PD symbol treatment limitation. Will this happen with other GUI objects, like printing this A# in a GEM window for example? Maybe we couldn't call this a "bug", but it's a big limitation since I have to use # to represent sharp notes in "ocidental notation". As far as I know music is an important issue for PD... Wish I could help more if I could touch those codes, but I'm a newbie programmer... So all I can do is to report this... "limitation"(?) hope this report can help something, thanx mathieu, salut, glerm ___ PD-list@iem.at mailing list UNSUBSCRIBE and account-management -> http://lists.puredata.info/listinfo/pd-list

[PD] strange canvas behaviour
Hello, I found a strange behaviour in canvas object. I don't know if it it operational system related, but anyway It's happening here and could happen with others. The situation is: When I send a symbol # to a canvas label (with the intention of use this as a "panel") it's converted for the symbol $ ... someting like: C# | ; cnv_test label $1 / it results in canvas printing: C$ there's a patch attached with an example. my system is Linux (Ubuntu Feisty - Gnome Desktop) kernel 2.6.20-26-generic locale pt_BR thanks glerm strange_canvas.pd Description: Binary data ___ PD-list@iem.at mailing list UNSUBSCRIBE and account-management -> http://lists.puredata.info/listinfo/pd-list
[PD] PD synth concepts embedded in atmel or arduinos
Hi, I know this could go off topic pretty fast, but I think this Is PD related and some people here will be interested (more than in arduino forum). I was playing with arduino with that examples that plays a buzzer just applying volts with delayMicroseconds() function. So I realized how nice would be if we could implement some PD ~ objects concepts (like delay lines, filters, oscilators, envelopes) in a arduino library (create something like a Synthesis library). Someone have tried something like this? I know that atmega168 have a lot of limitations for audio dsp, but it could be for lo-fi and bitcrushed sounds for studies and fun. well... if this still too off topic for here, there's a topic related in the arduino forum: http://www.arduino.cc/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1176970454 but there's just few comments, this is the reason I thought here could be a place to find some interested people... thanx glerm ___ PD-list@iem.at mailing list UNSUBSCRIBE and account-management -> http://lists.puredata.info/listinfo/pd-list

[PD] sndfiler on MACOSx and Ubuntu
Hello Georg and frinds at pd-list, I tried to run the binaries of sndfiler and threadlib that are in this website: http://grh.mur.at/software/sndfiler.html in both cases the object seems to load in pd but when i try to load an ogg file i got the message: "error: /samples/sample.ogg: no such array ...you might be able to track this down from the Find menu" (and click in Find menu got blank results" I tried I several ogg files that I already tested with other players (very short samples - less than 1 second) with the sndfiler-help.pd patch. the funny thing is that the snfiler works fine in my Debian Unstable (and i'm using a lot in a patch that i'm working) I tried Pd 0.39 and also just compile de pd 0.41 from CVS and got the same error... This same error is happening in Ubuntu and MacOsx any idea?
