I just tried pd 0.43 vanilla and ASIO does not initialize. It tries to
I can see because I have a stuck creative labs driver that pops up a
dialog when anything tries to initialize ASIO. There is something in
the docs about starting with an ASIO flag haven't read it yet but will
try that in a moment. I thought it was something to do with my stuck
creative driver but everything else works.
The driver I am using is ASIOforall on Vista. The one that is stuck is
leftover from a creative labs installation which didn't remove itself
on uninstall of driver and soundcard. Besides that the new pd 0.43
seems to be running great. I don't want to close the window and fix
the ASIO thing.

The ASIO is working now not before I submitted a bug though.
I added pd/lib and pd/bin to the path
and loadlib and Gem to the libraries loaded as mentioned above.

At one point I wasn't getting this message about could not find MSVCRT71.dll.
I am getting the message still and gem is not loading.

I am able to play with latency set to 12ms on Windows VISTA I didn't
try lower yet.

If you are using your own, old preferences, then you'll need to load
'vanilla/list' and 'vanilla' libraries. The default preferences
includes them. I've been experimenting with making the internals as a
libdir. Its still rough but the idea is to be able to make your own

Same here but since pd-extended uses the last release of port audio, almost one
year...

it should work on vanilla if port audio sources haven't been updated.

What is your soundcard? mine is an RME fireface 400.

The idea is about reporting this bug to port audio devs instead.

OK I'll give it a try. I had uninstalled Pd and removed Program
Files/pd so the preferences should be gone too, no?.
After installing the new pd-extended I double-clicked
pd/pd-settings.reg. Does that set the preferences? If so it didn't help.
Do I have to use regedit to delete every instance of Pd (there are a lot
in there), or is there a preferences file hidden somewhere else?
