 Hi Hans,
i have a big problem with the latest builds. if you open a patch on os

(i can't copy paste this message hence the screenshot)

then the patch is actually open, but it doesn't show in the windows

you can tell when you make a patch that produces audio and using
loadbang or opening a gemwin with a loadbang.
then when you doubleclick on the file again it will open a SECOND

i narrowed it down to a pd file which has only two objects in it:
[declare -lib Gem] and [pix_video] it looks like i should post that
bug on the gem bugtracker… (import instead of declare has the same
 effect)
problem is that those two objects are in 90% of my files :(

and there is a minor translation bug:

Just wanted to point out that the package for wheezy (i386) has an unmet
 dependency: x-ttcidfont-conf

After googling a bit it appears it has been removed..
 http://packages.qa.debian.org/x/x-ttcidfont-conf.html

That package is there for Gem, as far as I know. Do any Gem people know
if we still need that package?

i don't know about this package.
i even had to look up, what it is supposed to do.
it's definitely not a thing that Gem depends on (in a sense, that Gem
itself could make use of it)

the only dependency of Gem that is related to fonts is ftgl, everything
else (including a font package that provides a _default_ font for Gem
text rendering) should never ever be a hard dependency.

so from my side, feel free to remove the dependency on this package.

You can actually copy and paste the red-background text, the bug is

planning on implementing [import] in all patches in final release?

just thought I would ask what the plan is on that...

planning on implementing [import] in all patches in final release?
Many (most) help patches get .. couldn't create out of the box
 from
 PD help browser.

All objects in the help patches I sampled from the doc browser got
created correctly on Debian Wheezy 64-bit.  (Tried patches from
cyclone, mapping, and several other libs.)

Which help patches give you these errors, and on which OS?

And I agree with the whole using [import], [declare], [ggee/shell],
etc thing to load libraries rather than the old plist way but then im
sure your aware all the help patches will need to load these
 libraries

just thought I would ask what the plan is on that...

Libdir help patches don't need any changes since they are located
in the same directory as the binaries for the classes they reference.

References to objects in other libraries are made with the pddp/helplink
object in the form of [pddp/helplink lib/objectname].

There may be stray externals in some supplementary help patches like
tutorials in the form [objectname].

scrollbars, but

 hey Hans,

I am just wondering. As far as all the help patches go in extended,
especially for teaching purposes and also out of the box, are we
planning on implementing [import] in all patches in final release?

Re: [PD] Pd-extended 0.43.1 beta builds

2012-02-01 Thread Hans-Christoph Steiner

This happens often on Mac OS X because the [pd META] subpatch gets obscured by
the little handle for resizing. I'm thinking we can just write a script
that'll move the [pd META] subpatch a couple pixels up and to the left, and
it'll fix it everywhere. I'm happy to write that script.

My experience with the scrolling logic is that is takes a ton of testing to
make even small changes to it because there are so many edge cases that can be
horribly affected.

When you get a couldn't create in a help patch, that's a bug that should be
filed in the tracker. Even better, attach the fixed help patch.

That package is there for Gem, as far as I know. Do any Gem people know
if we still need that package?

Looking at the Debian info, it seems that this is likely temporary. All
the Ubuntu releases currently include it, for example.

About the Pt_Start() crash, that seems to be related to tclpd, from my
experience. Try this and see if it makes it go away:

sudo rm -rf \
/Applications/Pd-0.43.1-extended-20120201.app/Contents/Resources/startup/tclpd

Magic glass is great, I am bummed it languished for so long, I think Joe
Sarlo wrote that in 2003. Then Ico revived it and ported it to 0.42 in
pd-l2ork, and I took it from there.
