[PD] Five Days of Pure Data

2017-08-23 Thread Antonio Roberts
Hey pd list,

This week I've been publishing a series of writeups on my blog of
patches and techniques I've been using in Pure Data over the years.

So far I've written about:

Converting images to signals -
http://www.hellocatfood.com/five-days-of-pure-data-image-to-signal/
Randomising text -
http://www.hellocatfood.com/five-days-of-pure-data-randomise-text/
Infinite scrolling using [repeat] -
http://www.hellocatfood.com/five-days-of-pure-data-infinite-scrolling/

Two more will be published this week about livecoding and stop-motion animation.

I hope that some people find it useful!

Antonio

Re: [PD] [hid] for Pd-vanilla on MacOS

2017-08-23 Thread Miller Puckette
I believe your version of hid is compiled for 32-bit executables, so to load
it you'll have to use the 32 bit version of Pd 0.48-0.

cheers
Miller

[PD] Pd-0.48 for macOS not compiled with jack support(?)

2017-08-23 Thread Roman Haefeli
Hey all

It appears to me that the Pd-0.48-0.app is not compiled with Jack
support. The switch in the menu 'Media' where you can switch APIs
between 'standard(portaudio)' and 'jack' is missing. Also, when set
'audioapi: 5' in the settings file, it falls back to portaudio.

Is this intentional? IIRC, previous releases had direct jack support
compiled in.

Thanks,
Roman

[PD] [hid] for Pd-vanilla on MacOS

2017-08-23 Thread Pierre-Olivier Boulant

Hi,

I'm building a daemon to capture the commands from a Contour
ShuttleXpress to send OSC commands to other software and don't want to
be stuck with [key] because Pd will probably not have the focus. The
patch runs in the background like a good daemon should.

On Windows I got [hidin] to to the job with no hassle.

I wasn't able to get [hid] to work with Pd Vanilla 0.48 on a Mac. I only
managed to get it to work with Pd extended. Is there an alternative for
recent versions of Vanilla or is there something else that needs to be
installed? I tried to use libdir but no luck so far.

The help patches won't work either.
I could get it to work on Pd-extended, but I would like to see if there
is an alternative with recent vanilla versions.

Thanks for your help.

[PD] Hidin freezes in Win 10

2017-08-23 Thread Therese Forsberg
Hi list!

I hope someone can give me a hint on how to solve this problem.
I have a patch where I use the hid-object to receive data from a xbox
360-controller.

I developed the patch on a win 7 system where the patch is reasonably stable.
Then I wanted to use the patch on my other computer with a better sound card
that unfortunately has win10.

The patch works for a while then the hid-object stops receiving data.
If I try to restart the hid-object with the start message pd crashes.

I get no error message.

I tried different USB-ports. I have looked for newer drivers for the controller.
But noting seems to help.
At least it should be possible to make it as stable as on the win 7 system -
shouldn't it?

Someone has any idea on what to do, please?

/Therese
