the audio part of it, yes !

it's a modified [readsf~] that outputs a timecode (in milliseconds)
plus some other infos and features (looping, seeking, pause etc.) . the
timecode can be easily converted into frames that you can then feed into
a [pix_film] object.

help file is also attached

not 100% vanilla though, it needs IEMLIB1 and IEMLIB2 to get the full
length of the audio file, and for speedlimiting reasons.

hope you will find it useful !

Re: [PD] Win10: unable to create registry entry

2017-11-15 Thread Lucas Cordiviola
Hi,

I use win8.1 & win10 and this is not happening on my machines.

You could try 'right-click' on Pd's icon and select “Run as
administrator”(1).

Recommended for “Starter” or “Home” editions of Windows.

(1) If this fixes the issue, you can go to the properties on Pd's icon
and check this option to be always use when starting Pd.

[PD] Could [declare] report lib loading errors?

2017-11-15 Thread Peter P.
Hi,

I am growing a big fan of loading external libraries with a
[declare -lib magiclib]
object. I wonder if it would be a valuable improvement to have it report
failures loading a library to the console window, or if there is a
specific reason it doesn't? I find in cumbersome having to watch out for
successful loading messages being posted to Pd's console only to
indicate correct behavior but no error or warning if loading went wrong.

I am looking forward to learn more about why this is the case.

thank you all!

Re: [PD] 32 bit linux build in Deken for else lib?

2017-11-15 Thread Dan Wilcox
Just as a note, the install guide for building Pd has been greatly updated.
Hopefully the steps make much more sense:
https://github.com/pure-data/pure-data/blob/master/INSTALL.txt

Also, I think Alex was referring more to building his external and less about
building Pd.

I seem to remember flext-based externals spitting a bunch of tcl at the GUI.
Purr Data is supposed
to shuttle such things off to a short message that displays in the GUI to show
the file, line number,
and first few characters of the message. Since that isn't happening it may be a
bug in Purr Data.

Can you zip up those xsample externals and send them to me?

Good point while I understand the principle I still don't know all the
steps/ software required to do so.

I've tried but I've never been able to build Pd successfully. I just don't
really understand all the steps well enough.

this was actually an arm build somebody gave me. And I uploaded it to
 deken, see http://puredata.info/Members/porres/software/else/1.0beta6/

but now, weirdly enough, none of both the linux packages I uploaded are
 available in deken :/

I wont be able to upload it to deken until the weekend, but here's
32bit linux for download at github => https://github.com/porres/p
 d-else/releases/tag/v1.0-beta6

For all that is worth, I still keep the other earlier beta
versions releases and its compiled binaries for download at
https://github.com/porres/pd-else/releases - and also tagged alpha
releases down to alpha 2 (which is as good as alpha 1).

Hi, I still consider this as a highly experimentar project, still in
Beta phase. When releasing a final version, I plan to keep them all listed
in the server, but I don't think it is productive to pollute the server
with beta releases. In fact, the main reason behind me uploading to the
server right now is cause I wanted to make it easy for my students to
download the package. If I wasn't teaching a course these days, I don't
think I'd upload any update. And then I wen ahead and made 5 updates, just
because of this course and the new things I did cause I had this motivation
 to give them new things.

Now, having said all that, my plans are to think about the final
release already, so the next update should come as a "release candidate" I
 hope.

 cheers

The only 32 bit release I can see in deken is ARM based. Unfortunately
doesn't work on my 32 bit laptop.
