Re: [PD] Best way to install Pd on Raspberry Pi

2016-06-23 Thread Jack
Thanks everyone for your answers.
On my side, I know to compile Pd from source and install it with :
# make install
And get everything in /usr/local/bin and /usr/local/lib (in debian like
distribution).
Now, I was asking if it is possible to install everything in these
directories when you download Pd compiled for ARM. Acually, i don't want
to cd into pd-0.47.../bin and then ./pd (and don't want to add path to
search in my system but use default ones).

You could also consider installing a deb that auto-installs everything
for you in the right locations. Pd-L2Ork offers novice-friendly
documentation on how to do this:

user can run are put there (if you make install from source, it goes
there as well).

Once you've moved the pd binary to /usr/local/bin, you can type pd not
matter what directory you're in and it'll run.

hello,

you should move the pd binary to /usr/local/bin/

That directory should already be in your PATH and typically binaries any
user can run are put there (if you make install from source, it goes
there as well).

Once you've moved the pd binary to /usr/local/bin, you can type pd not
matter what directory you're in and it'll run.

[PD] Best way to install Pd on Raspberry Pi

2016-06-21 Thread Jack
Hello,

I would like to know what is the best way to install Pd on Raspberry Pi
after a download on :
http://msp.ucsd.edu/Software/pd-0.47-1.armv7.tar.gz

I can execute Pd from pd-0.47-1.armv7/bin with :
$ ./pd

But i want to install Pd because i need to execute it from anywhere,
(and i don't want to compile it because the bin exists).

What is the best approach (link, path, install), how?
Thanx.
