what do you mean by "current file" (as opposed to where [menusave( saves
the patch to)?

since both you and liam use the [s pd-mypatch.pd] idiom, i'd like to
point out that this might be tricky, as the [savetofile( might rename
the patch... so the following will only work once:

[savetofile yourpatch.pd .(
|
[s pd-mypatch.pd]

a safer approach is to use [namecanvas]:

[savefile yourpatch.pd .(
|
[s $0-canvas]

[namecancas $0-canvas]

in which ways?

those "internal messages" are how Pd-GUI communications with Pd.
if you can save patches via the GUI, then the "internal messages" work.

(unless you are talking about the 'first' save) it should be simply

[menusave(
|
[s pd-mypatch.pd]

I've never found a way of saving the patch to the current file, but if you

Did not how 'savetofile' worked until you mentioned it! Thanks!! I think
this should do it:

[savetofile mypatch.pd /path/to/file(

[s pd-mypatch.pd]

2019-03-11 Thread Liam Goodacre
I've never found a way of saving the patch to the current file, but if you want
to save it to a new file, you can do this:

[savetofile newpatch.pd home/my/directory(
|
[send pd-mypatch.pd]

Subject: [PD] Save patch with internal message

Hi List!

I'm tried to save a patch through internal
messages<https://puredata.info/community/pdwiki/PdInternalMessages> without
success. I tried menusave and menusaveas methods in some ways. I'm using Pd
0.49-1 (mac).

Is it possible to save patches via internal messages yet?

Thanks for any advance! CHeers!!

Hi Esteban,

I have here some patches I made that go through most of (hidden) pd messages I
could find

https://github.com/fdch/fd_lib/tree/master/tutorials/pd-messages

(The above is a bit hacky, but saving from inside a pd patch is mentioned there
:)

hope it helps!
