on the subject of oscillator banks, someone said that this method where you use oversampling and incrementingthe phase of a specific sample in the block can be more efficient than just using separate oscillators (inspired by a characterization from one of miller's lectures):https://forum.puredata.info/topic/13327/additive-sine-synth-thinghaven't tested efficiency myself -seb -Original Message- From: Alexandre Torres Porres To: Peter P. ; pd-list@lists.iem.at Sent: Mon, Dec 12, 2022 8:52 am Subject: Re: [PD] is [sigmund~] a "phase vocoder"? haha :) Sure, I know her, but it's just an oscillator bank and it's awesome! [PD] is [sigmund~] a "phase vocoder"?
Hi, just get things straight and confirmed, for quite a while now I have included [sigmund~] into a "phase vocoder" section of my tutorial. I never check and I'm just guessing it uses what is called "phase vocoder analysis" to find accurate pitches and that can be used in a bank of oscillators and I see that a so called "phase vocoder" is also used for reconstructing signals with an oscillator bank. Who could confirm or deny this? :) Please point me to references if you can.
