Thank you and everyone involved very much.

As far as I can see the List of objects aka. help-intro.pd doesn't
contain the new objects jet and the description of clone reads - mak
copies of a subpatch, when it should read abstraction.

There are some troubles with patch-editing features while zooming=2,
that did not occur with pd v0.49

(mouse cursor position and created objects position are not consistent
with zoom=2)

As I am addicted with this zooming feature, I proposed some fixes in a

Hi Edwin!

There were modifications to the "pdtk_text.tcl" file so it's probably why it's
not working.

I'll update the plugin as soon as i can!

Hi Miller,

Just to let you know: the completion plugin doesn’t seem to work with pd 0.50-0
test1. When I put an object, type for example ‘sf’ and press the tab key I get
‘… couldn’t create’ in the Pd window instead of a list of objects that include
’sf’ in their name.
I’m on macos 10.14.6 and use [completion-plugin] version 0.46.1

Best!

Re: [PD] [PD-announce] pd 0.50-0 test1 released

2019-08-10 Thread Christof Ressi
Works here (Windows 7).

Something I'm badly missing is the ability to sort based on a certain number of
fields. I think what many people would want to do is sorting lines according to
the first field (only).

So I think [sort( could really take two (optional) arguments: start index
(default: 0) + number of fields (<= 0: end of line -> default)

[sort 0 1( -> sort by the leading field
[sort 1 1( -> sort by field 1
[sort 1( -> sort by all fields starting at 1, like the current [sort -k 1(
[sort 2 2( -> sort by fields 2 and 3

etc.

What do you think?

Reading this mail with interest, I just wanted to explore the sort

Opening the help file and clicking on 'sort' crashes pd. :(
Same in the [pd sorting] subpatch.
Irrespective of whether text window is open or closed, with data or

Re: [PD] [PD-announce] pd 0.50-0 test1 released

2019-08-09 Thread Christof Ressi
Good idea! I think it's mostly a Windows issue since macOS and Linux have been
64-bit for ages. On Windows this is how you can get the architecture:

1) open the file in binary mode
2) read the BYTE at location 0x3C to get the COFF header offset
3) seek to the COFF header offset
4) check that the first 4 bytes match the character sequence "PE\0\0" ->
Windows binary
5) the next WORD is the machine type
6) 0x8664 -> x64, otherwise 32bit

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/debug/pe-format#machine-types
https://superuser.com/a/889267

We would only need to do this check if LoadLibrary fails.

I didn't mention any features in my suggestions, but if I had picked one,
that would be it!

Actually, if I'm not mistaken, I think we discussed this one being included
in 0.49 but it didn't make it then, so it was promised for 0.50 - as it
doesn't seem anything too complicated, I really really hope it can make it

Do not disconnect to objects connected (Otherwise "Connect Selection"
works).

2019-08-09 Thread Christof Ressi
Hi Miller,

thanks a lot for all your work!

I just want to point out three little features which you might still want to
consider:

1) https://github.com/pure-data/pure-data/pull/606 ("send" method for [value])

2) https://github.com/pure-data/pure-data/pull/592 (add new "mode" argument to
[openpanel])
Apart from selecting a single file, you can now also select a folder or
multiple files.

3) https://github.com/pure-data/pure-data/pull/627 ([goprect( method to
dynamically change the GOP bounds)
We can finally tell people to stop abusing the internal [donecanvasdialog(
method - which has caused so many troubles - and use the new public method
instead.

Would be cool if you manage to queeze that in, but I also understand if you
don't.

Another question: what shall we do with the netobject updates? We're almost
finished, only bikesheeding multicast :-) Do you see a chance this could go to
Pd 0.50 or do we have to postpone it? It don't have a problem with the latter.

Christof

PS: Other features, to be considered for future releases:

1) https://github.com/pure-data/pure-data/pull/594 (additional methods for
[list store])
2) https://github.com/pure-data/pure-data/pull/595 (additional [list] methods)
3) https://github.com/pure-data/pure-data/pull/347 (dollar-zero in message
boxes)
4) https://github.com/pure-data/pure-data/pull/621 (save size of [array define])

for the sake of keeping things organized on github, I see we still have a
0.49-1 milestone here
https://github.com/pure-data/pure-data/milestone/5 probably
this was put there before releasing 0.49, anyway, this could be moved to
0.50 https://github.com/pure-data/pure-data/milestone/6 - and maybe we
should have a new 0.51 milestone and start moving things to that as well :)

Yay!

One issue I spotted in the new features is that [pdcontrol] still has a
"gui" message example, I had mentioned that in
https://github.com/pure-data/pure-data/commit/6d28e3fcd805ffb11cb8047f6a6fe26de433ba77#comments

I'm hoping to be able to put out a "stable" release in a week.

Ok, I'll work more on that manual section on externals that I've been
writing then (thanks for including it).

I see only bug fixes and minor issues are on the table right now. So I'd
like to bring attention to three rather simple fixes that I really hoped we
could have for this update, in order of priority:

- Kinda overdue is this bug I first reported back in 0.46 for the delay. I
had an attempt you weren't sure about, which was actually bad, but Christof
nailed it in here: https://github.com/pure-data/pure-data/pull/708 - I
really need this for an external in ELSE.
- This is marked as a feature,
https://github.com/pure-data/pure-data/pull/631 but I argue it is a fix,
specially the first two commits that fixes
https://github.com/pure-data/pure-data/issues/629 so I think you can just
cherry pick those - I can see how the rest of the PR that deals with
clipping may give rise to a compatibility flag and maybe you wanna leave it
for later. I also need this for an external in cyclone!
- This PR has fixes but also includes new features, so I've split into
different commits and at least the first 3 commits are quite simple fixes
that closes https://github.com/pure-data/pure-data/issues/693 &
https://github.com/pure-data/pure-data/issues/683 - This is also needed for
an external.

Moreover, there are a couple of very simple and headache free fixes that I
think you could check just to get out of the way (no rush though):
https://github.com/pure-data/pure-data/pull/611 &
https://github.com/pure-data/pure-data/pull/609

And I see that maybe you won't have time to check this out throughly, but
I've dedicated a lot of effort in trying to reorganize the whole
documentation of Pd. No edits were made, unless specified in different
commits, but the overall impact is more cosmetic, though some fixes have
been made: https://github.com/pure-data/pure-data/pull/608

Thanks!
